You have to pay to get in which is something I am not used to in ohio. It does seem like a money grab since it is the only way to get to the lighthouse which is not part of the park.

This campground is really nice. Large lots, nice pavilions, beautiful lake views. Nice clean bathrooms, and options for renting cabins and tents.

Small st park, some hiking trails. Lighthouse is the main attraction. Tours given for 4.00. Can walk to the beach but overgrowth keeps you from doing much.

Stopped in briefly on a drive up M-22. Didn't take the lighthouse tour, but it seemed quite interesting. The views of the lake from the park were wonderful. Easily worth a stop!

I presume you will be kayaking in Grand Traverse Bay which is across the busy M31 so my choice would be as close to the bridge as possible
