B&B suggested, "only if you really like lighthouses should you take the extra time to drive to the lighthouse and back down," and recommend cutting across if not. We like lighthouses ok, but with late October peak color, we enjoyed the drive, the lighthouse was cute, and we liked the short state park hike that goes to to a Lake... More

Just a short drive from Northport off the main road you can visit this rustic area. There is an older lighthouse and some gravel trails. The weather was beautiful and the fall color was just coming into peak viewing but we were a little put off by the smell from the rustic bathrooms. If you go to enjoy the area... More

Went here to see the lighthouse and the walk the trails for an hour or so. The lighthouse looked nice from the outside, but we had already been to the Mission Point one, so we didn't go inside. The trails in the area were just a few short gravel trails the didn't go very far, and mainly just meandered through... More

My husband and I visited Leelanau State Park on our way along the Traverse City Ale Trail this weekend. Unfortunately we got there right after the lighthouse and gift shop had closed, but we were still able to look around outside and walk along the water. It is worth a quick stop if you find yourself in the area to... More

This Park is nice but if I didn't already have a State Park sticker I wouldn't have paid to see it. The shoreline is pretty but VERY rocky. There are other hiking trails and one leads to the top of a dune with an overlook, but now that I know what it looks like, I wouldn't hike it again.

We drove through the campground, but didn't stay. It is not only in a woods, but there are weeds and scrubby bushes everywhere. The campsites look TINY. We saw very few of them that could handle anything larger than a tent. It made me feel claustrophobic. The road is unpaved, and all the campsites appear to be dirt and gravel... More

We decided to check out the Leelanau State Park at the last minute. We drove up to the location address which is where the campgrounds and lighthouse are. Unless you pay for the lighthouse entrance there isn't much to see at that location but we did go back a few miles and hiked down to the beach which was beautiful... More

This seemed like a very nice park to visit. We only went to the lighthouse area, but this was very nice. It's very quiet and secluded. You can really enjoy a nice walk and enjoy nature.

Wonderful park!!! Rustic camping, rocky shoreline and beautiful sunsets!!! We first stayed here 28 years ago and can't believe the changes in the shoreline over the years. Great for hiking along the shore or just getting your feet wet and watching the waves roll in!!!
