This is a very small museum but it is packed with artifacts from the French, the Americans and the Germans. There are many photographs showing what the area looked like before, during and after the war. The most touching artifact I saw was an American...More

Small museum - packed with artefacts from the fighting in the Colmar Pocket. They have a number of well equipped mannequins showing various US and French uniforms, as well as Heer, Luftwaffe and SS troops.

This is part of a Viking excursion tour (ask for Cindy; she's exceptional) to the site of the Colmar Pocket battle in January 1945. The museum is small and in a basement, but shows the humanity of the combatants exceptionally well. It's made up of...More

I must admit that I know little of the Second World War in this part of France. This is the region where all of France was finally liberated after heavy fighting with the Germans. Audie Murphy won his Medal of Honor just below this village...More

This tiny museum is packed with military paraphernalia from the second world war. It only has two rooms, but an amazing collection. You have to see this if you are interested in military history.

Many people may have heard of Audie Murphy. Many will not have visited where he made his famous one man (private war) stand. When you come to this museum very few people are here. That doesn't make it less important. The fact that all the...More

This is a small museum of two rooms, containing a lot of memorabilia mostly packed into glass cases. I enjoyed the memorial outside the museum to French/American military collaboration the most. I wish there had been more information specifically about Turckheim. While it costs a...More

The Colmar Pocket is a throwback to museums of the 50's and 60's with a whole lot of military memorabilia crammed into display cases and large-scale dioramas. With that said, if you know your WWII history and are up on militaria and ordnance, there are...More

Not easy to find and to park. The entrance is not well organized, and the payment point is inside one of the two rooms. We have arrived about 25 minutes before closing and we went in to one of the rooms seeing nobody. After 5...More
