This museum is trying so hard to be great. The people who work there are kind and excited to have visitors. Unfortunately, it's not a well done museum. It's a bunch of poorly constructed mannequins and dolls related to stories/legends with a short explanation placard...More

This is one of the most bizarre museums I have ever seen. The building used to be a military prison where political prisoners were incarcerated and tortured. The murals in the various rooms illustrate what happened there. Superimposed on that is an exhibit of cheesy...More

This building was a prison not long ago (1979) where a lot of bad things happened to many prisoners (you really do not want to know). Each section in the prison has a paper mache of certain people/figures which is really cool. You get to...More

We were super curious about the Museo de Tradiciones y Letendas, and I guess our visit mostly satisfied our curiousity. We did a self guided tour around the museum for 50 Cordobas each. There was information about the legends and traditions English and Spanish, and...More

Enjoyed our time here. Spent about 45 minutes reading the pages about the various people and legends of Nicaragua. Old prison turned into a museum.

The building and grounds served as a prison and even as a "madhouse" in the past. But this part of the history is far over-shadowed by the weird paper mache statues that are supposed to depict local myths and legends. The paper mache statues are...More

A look into some of the history of Nicaragua. This place has a lot of emotion with it especially with me having served in Iraq. It makes you really feel for the people of Nicaragua and the terrible things that they have had to endure....More

This is a bit of an odd museum. Set in a prison with wall paintings about its past. But the rooms are filled with all sorts of man size puppets depicting the history and legends of Nicaragua. A weird combination but we enjoyed it. Something...More

Enjoyed the museum and all of the displays. There's also a section on the sad history and it's on the old prison where many atrocities were done. Loved some of the old legends of Nicaragua.
