Jose and his team made it possible for us to have one of the most memorable adventures ever! We had the best guides in Tony and Erick, they were friendly, knowledgeable and obviously love people and what they do. Jose was patient in answering our many questions, Tony was great company and took tons of great photo’s for us, and explained what to expect very well. Erick was amazingly patient as he guided me on my walk down Cerro Negro. I’m not that agile, so I did the walk down. My husband really wanted to do the sand boarding and our friend had a great time too. The surrounding views are spectacular, and the volcanoes are plenty. Volcano day tours is absolutely the best! They not only made our day, they helped make great memories for us. We wish you the very best Jose, Tony & Erick. Volcano Day is fantastic; these guys totally made my stay in Leon. I did both Telica and Cerra Negra with this group. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The views were indescribably beautiful and volcano boarding is a must experience. Highly recommend.

Words cannot describe the awesome experience that is volcano day! Wooooow My friends and I did the over night trek to el hoyo with volcano boarding down cerro negro. Tony was the guide for cerro negro he has an amazing energy and makes sure everyone is having a laugh. The walk up cerro negro was windy but beautiful and a fairly decent walk up. Plus he got some amazing photos of us all. 200/10 recommend. We were lucky to have Tony, Erik and Matt a previous volunteer on the tour throughout the tour. Erik took us up el hoyo, he is full of knowledge and knows his way around a machete, fire, camp site and great laughs. I want to say thanks volcano day it was an amazing experience. Gents, I highly recommend Volcano day for visiting the volcanoes nearby. Me and my colleagues visited 4 volcanoes when we were in Nicaragua. We were staying in Chinandega due to our job and they had no issue to pick us up there and they were always on time. The guide Antonio is a very friendly guy fluent in english who will help you with everything you want and have a nice chat during the hike. The owner if not mistaken is his cousin Chicharra who is also a very friendly guy, we went for barbecue one time after volcano boarding at Cerro Negro. They will provide advise before the hike, food, assistance with your bag in case you need it during the hike, transport, a nice tanktop, etc in conclusion it's a really personalized experience!!…

Booked my trip directly with Chicharra at the Volcano Day office (Via Via Hostel). We were 5 people for volcano boarding. You carry the board yourself. There was an option to pay a local guy and he will carry your board. It's very hot, there is no shade. The first half of the path is rocky. On the volcano it was really windy. You get a suit, goggles, gloves, but bring your own bandana or a scarf to cover your mouth. It was fun and it's one of the must-do's in Nicaragua. After a quick lunch we hiked to the base camp at El Hoyo. We were just 3 people plus our guide Matt (who did a fantastic job). We walked up for about three hours, the sun was brutal and there was no shade. Equipped with all of our camping gear it was absolutely exhausting to walk on the volcanic sand. Well, at least for me - everyone else seemed to be fine. The sunset was spectacular. The next day was much easier when we walked about 3 hours down to a lagoon. …
