Nicely preserved historical site. Most signage includes English translation. However, local women tend to hover around tour groups to hawk their scarves and socks, etc. They're not pushy, which is great, but it still diminished the experience a bit.

A fine collection of old and restored houses, mosques, historical buildings, nice streets and a well restored city wall. Well worth the trip through the desert.

A great fortress city, buzzing with life and great to explore. Almost untouched by Russian influence, still shows the old ethnic way of life.

Walking in the old town of Khiva is like traveling in time. You will enjoy it nettee in the late afteenoon, when hundreds of tourist have left the place and leave it quieter.
