Bhupatindra Malla statue is a welcome extra in Bhaktapur, nicely situated between the temples, and worth a look of two.

The uniqueness of this place is that there are so many temples and shrines in and around the square. Must visit this statue in honour of the Malla King instrumental in making this place.

We wondered in that area and stumbled upon this statue. It stands tall in the middle of the square where you can also see many baby goats!

The statue sits atop a column in front of the Vatsala Durga Temple in the centre of the square. Similar statues were erected in Kathmandu and Patan but collapsed in 2015 which probably proves one statue is enough for any old king. It is quite impressive and worth a look.

The Price continued his father's (Jitamitra Malla) ambitious work in construction and completed the 55 window palace in Bhaktapur which remains still high today.

Status seems to be unmoved by the earthquake. Great piece of architecture with intrinsic details. Can be easily located during the walk.

Visited the Bhaktapur Durbar Square on 2 January 2015.
The column stand proudly towards the sky ,located just in front of the Vatsala Temple and the Golden Gate .
Its a gilded statue of King Bhupatindra Malla on a pillar with his hands folded in Prayer posture, legs folded and a serpent supporting the capital.
A small bird sits on top of the serpent's head.
Not to be missed !
