Royal Bhutan Monastery is a wonderful Buddhist monastery located in Bodhgaya. The King of Bhutan got this monastery constructed as a tribute to Lord Buddha. The monastery has golden coloured tall statue of Buddha inside. It features important instances from the life of Gautam Buddha in the form of clay carvings which is attractive. The entire complex is nicely maintained.

If you cannot make it to Bhutan - this is the closest thing you will ever get too-- the temple art on the wall is 3-D- simply amazing. A quiet temple with huge garden grounds. When you want to have serenity this is the place to go. Everybody is at the Mahabodhi temple, more peace here.

I'm unlikely to make it to Bhutan, so it was great to have a peek at their art. Just off the main road, quiet, peaceful.

I have never been to Bhutan. Therefore, this monastery enabled me to get a glimpse of what a Bhutanese monastery looks like. It was a worthwhile experience as this monastery is a beautiful one. Right from the word go, it is stunningly beautiful, A beautiful Bhutanese style thorana invites you to the shrine room along a nicely paved pathway accompanied by nicely cut two lines of bush walls along its path. Step in to the shrine room, it is a stunning gallery of decorations. A large Buddha statue painted with gold is before you with burning butter lamps and other offerings on the offering seat. By the sideways there are two other large statues. A photo of the monarch of Bhutan also finds a place among the great. Over hanging lanterns are so colorful and gorgeous. walls are painted with gods of Lamaism which is the main branch of Buddhism practiced in Bhutan. It is a must see monasteries in Budh Gaya.

Silent atmosphere inside the monastery. You can sit in a corner and meditate or just take in the ambience. A place of peace.

I have never been to Bhutan, but I would think this structure is very typical. A very attractive eye- catcher as seen from the outside and surprisingly decorative inside. Many detailed carvings, very colorful. Exquisite...
