Near death experience at Seth's Chhama Chham Water Park Bodhgaya
May 2022
We faced a near-death experience today at the Seth's Chhama Chham Water Park, near Bodhgaya. Today we (myself, my wife and 10 years old daughter) went to visit the Seth's Chhama Chham Water Park (Nema Village, Gothu) near Bodhgaya at around 3 pm. As its really hot and humid these days in Gaya, we were carrying sealed ORS liquid and sealed/packed ready to drink coconut water with water bottle. At the entry gate the guards insisted to leave everything outside, we were not supposed to carry any kind of food or drink item inside park, I told them that my daughter easily gets dehydrated and needs ORS time to time, but they did not allow us to enter with packed and sealed ORS. They told us that its the order from park management, they wanted to do good business by forcing public to buy each and everything inside the park it seems, I told them that I may not get the ORS or coconut water inside, but they did not allow me at all. We had to leave everything in our car and then only we were allowed to enter. We entered the park, there was so much rush in the change room, it was suffocating there, somehow we changed and wore the swimming costume. Right then, my daughter who was standing and waiting for me, suddenly fainted and fell down on the concrete floor, she was unconcious. People around us gathered there, we sprinkled water on her face and head, her lips were becoming blue, she got badly hurt on her head, arm, elbow on left side. We took her to the reception and made her sit in the fan, the person on counter somehow arranged one ORS but she was not conscious enough to drink that, after sometime she took one or two sips but was only 25% conscious for a long time. There was no doctor there. And the park is also very far from the city. I asked them to call the manager, some Mr. Rohit came and asked me what happened. I told them that at least sealed ORS or coconut water should be allowed inside keeping in mind the heatwaves and humid conditions. May be somebody is not well, they need some kind of special supplement, these are life saving things, at least these should be allowed inside. It was the first time we went to that water park, and it was the worst experience of our life, we went through a really difficult situation, faced near to death experience because of their stupid rules and policies. They all are robots, not humans, completely insensitive for human life or care. They just focus on their business, thats all. I hope the authorities take the congnizance of this incidence and do something useful in this regard, so that the same situation should not be faced by anybody else.

This water park is a recent addition to Bodh Gay A’s attractions and is really still under construction. Four of the five water slides are fully operational, and the water in the pool is cooling on a hot day. The locker rooms are ok, but I would recommend taking your own padlock. Swimming costumes and towels are available, but I would recommend those a size bigger than most locals take their own costumes. Entrance was Rps. 200 each, so a bargain.
