If you are interested in the former gold rush in SA you must visit Pilgrims Rest. The entire village is a world heritage site. Go to the cementary to view the Robbers Cave

From start to finish, harassed and no parking without being forced to have a car wash, derelict, same curious over and over, wife and colleagues harassed.. Left there with a bad taste in my mouth... Would never recommend tourists go there..

I couldn't find a place to park my car, not because there were no parking bays available but because of the horrid signs stating that your car was going to be washed for a fee if parked. These signs are EVERYWHERE! As no-one touches my...More

We drove here from Graskop and walked about in the town. There is an upper and lower part of the town, about 700m between the two. I would suggest starting at the lower part, have a short drive to the caravan park side (lots of...More

My fiance and I went to visit Pilgrims rest. We had been the evening before when most things were already closed, and ended up eating at Johnny's pub. This pub and the attaching Vine restaurant has delicious food, friendly staff, and was a pleasure to...More

Since visiting Pilgrims Rest a number of years back, there is a definite improvement with the overall look and feel of this beautiful old town since the informal traders have now been given proper "buildings" to house their trade. We still, however, did not have...More
