We happened to stop by after a trip out of state. We were approached by a young man (state employee) who gave us a brief history of the area. We walked around outside, then went inside, watched a movie, and found Monroe to be an...More

I would recommend stopping here. We learned a lot and were able to connect some more of the dots about the Battles of the War of 1812.

This is a small National Park but it is loaded with information. To visit the museum and battlegrounds will only take about 1 or 2 hours. The museum contains some very insightful information about the relations between the colonists and the native Americans. It also...More

If you are into revisionist history and are apologetic and ashamed of your American heritage then this is the place for you. The small museum was very nice and for the most part the staff was very pleasant. Everything was okay until we listened to...More

It's a very nice park and certainly a great reenactment location for live battle theater. The parking was a little tight, but there was plenty of green space and grassy areas, plus areas for battle and a main building too.
