I have run on the North Country Trail during a half marathon and full marathon, so I've traveled at least 30 miles of this moderately technical trail. The dense trees and ground cover create a wonderful backdrop for a spectacular experience in nature.

There are a whole lot of miles along the North Country Trail to explore and enjoy. This is a great way to get away from people. There are no crowds on the NCT. You'll run into mountain bikers, hikers, wild mushroom hunters and trail maintenance folks sparingly. You'll run into a whole lot more tree frogs, butterflies, birds, squirrels, rabbits,... More

Spent 3-4 hours skiing there last weekend. The grooming (traditional/no skating) is first rate and the trail markers are accurate. When they mean advanced (black path) they mean it! Skied the intermediate "Big Wheel" and the advanced "Oh Me". Big downhills. I wonder why they take the trackset out on the downhills?... I'm a pretty advanced skier and found this... More

My husband and I took parts of the north county trail through the upper peninsula of Michigan. We also started at the beginning of the trail in luddington MI. This trail is amazing for hikers it longer than the Appalachian trail. It covers more states and they have well marked trails. We also took a hike of part of the... More

The Manistee section of the NCT is a perfect place to make a 2-3 day loop trail with people that are not frequent hikers. The trail is quite accessible, easy to walk on and not extraordinarily crowded. There are water sources along tyne trail and, specially the NCT part, is well marked. The amount of wildlife that one can encounter... More

I was in town for the marathon and it runs the north country trail. The trail was nice and manicured. A lot of roots so watch your step. There was a 10 mile section that was relatively flat and the rest had some moderate hills. The highlight was a view at the top of the peek by the BIG M... More

I like to run on the North Country trail. The sections along the Manistee River are quite scenic.

Very challenging parts on this trail. I'm fairly new to mountain biking so I'm sure if you're more seasoned you'd love this trail. Even though I'm a neophyte I enjoyed the trail. Great workout and beautiful views. We were kayaking from Hopendyl dam and used out bikes to go from the take out to the put in made for a... More
