Description:

A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point...

A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. There's just as much to see from the top of the tower as inside the original buildings. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits, including the original lens and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum, this "Castle of the Straits" is a true gem of the Great Lakes.

This light house is a beauty! You have to get tickets to get in the lighthouse and tower. I recommend that if you are going to many Mackinaw destinations look for the combo tickets and save yourself a little money. They offer them there. Inside and out the lighthouse is just lovely workmanship. Very well preserved. The tower tour is... More

If you like Lighthouses then take the time to visit Old Mackinac Point. Next to the bridge this lighthouse is well maintained and worth your time.

Able to climb to the top of the tower after paying for a tour. The guide was most informative regarding the history of the lighthouse. He answered all of our questions and elaborated on several topics.

Every time we go to Mackinac City we visit the lighthouse. They have done a tremendous job restoring it! You can climb the stairs to where the light is and go out on the platform circling the tower! Nice little gift shop inside the first level. Nice view of the Mackinac Bridge as well! I recommend visiting when in the... More

I purchased tickets for the lighthouse, 2 adult tickets and 1 child who was free. My child was standing next to me when I purchased the tickets. The person selling us the tickets NEVER mentioned their was a height restriction to climb to the top of the lighthouse. We walked over to the lighthouse from the fort and handed the... More

The light house was right next to our Hotel. So we took the very short walk. It was $7 or $7 or $7.50 don't remember for sure. The ground were small but nice. Not to many steps to go up to the light house. A lot of history with pictures and stories in the light house

This was a fun stop in Mackinaw City. You can climb the lighthouse to the top and get a great view of the Mackinac Bridge. Lots of interesting information in the shipwreck museum.

Traveled to Mack City for the Richard Crane semi show and tried to find a variety of things to do during the down time between walking the semi truck lined streets of St. Ignace and waiting for the truck parade after dark. This lighthouse was right across the street from our hotel so we couldn't help but stop by. Dad... More

This is a lovely lighthouse. Easily accessible, sitting areas, beach area, public restrooms and not a far walk from parking area. Pet friendly as well. A must see!
