It's a different perspective from the palisade walls. Treasures from the past come to life at this 18th-century fort and fur trading village. Reconstructed based on historic maps and more than 50 years of archaeological excavations that continue today, Colonial Michilimackinac offers a one-of-a-kind experience from cannon and musket firings to hearth cooking and crafts. Located on the shore of the Straits of Mackinac, visitors of all ages can enjoy the unique perspective from the palisade walls. This is Mackinac.

We made a special trip here in October 2017 for fright nights. Very fun time, we would go again. Scary enough but good for families too.

Very relaxing place to spend an afternoon. Nice and quiet. Fascinating to see the historic items, including building foundations, the archeologists have found there.

A nice place to stroll. Much was closed for the season already. The area is beautiful and well-maintained.

We visited in late October, so not much going on. It is nice to walk the grounds: however, the buildings are closed.

This old fort and trading post has been restored to its glory days of fur trading. Everyone was very knowledgeable and was interesting to watch the craftsmen working their skilled trades.
