- Dave CIllinois1,709 contributionsGood for all agesWe've been here twice; once with kids under age 12 and the other time just as adults. For the second visit, we were the only ones on the tour. The guides to a great job of adapting their approach to who's on the tour. With the tour where we brought the kids, there was a big focus on feeding the young elk, and spending time in the small petting zoo. With the tour where it was just us 2 adults, we got a history of the place and detail about lives of the elk. The tour takes about 45 minutes - you're in a wagon pulled by a tractor with 2 guides.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 October 2023
- Polly b95 contributionsA Lot of Fun--A Little PricyHaving never seen elk up close, much less fed them, this was a great experience. This was a good time to go--lots and lots of baby elk and the males were in velvet. I would have liked a little more narrative from the driver about elk and the ranch in general, but she readily answered every question and did give us some information (she really seems to love her job). Feeding the elk was fun too! However, if you are taking a family, the cost of this is going to add up real quick. A family of 4 would cost $50. It would be nice if they offered a "family package" for say, $35 up to 4 kids, to make it more affordable for families. Note: the petting zoo was closed due to Avian flu.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 July 2024
- Ruth Y1 contributionAmazingSeeing these beautiful animals up close is an amazing thing! Got to feed and touch them. Gentle giants! Enjoyed an Elk burger as we went on a Saturday, delicious. Our guide Evan was polite and knowledgeable and our gate helper, Lindsay was very sweet and fun. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our little tour to see the Elk, something you cannot see in Michigan without this type of farm!Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 July 2024
- David GSaginaw, Michigan23 contributionsAn enjoyable stop if you don't mind the bumps. An enjoyable place to see domesticated elk up close and personal, along with a good narrative by the driver and their assistant. You will be riding on wooden seats on a covered hay wagon pulled by a tractor over sometimes bumpy terrain. The elk are in large open areas bordered with tall fences. One staff member opens each gate as the wagons are pulled through. The elk congregate and are easily approached by the tractor/wagons. Feed is provided and you have the option to hand feed them when you are in the female only area. The staff did a nice job explaining and answering questions - all were very pleasant. I was not sure I was going to enjoy this tour after visiting the Oswald Bears in our upper peninsula, which appeared to take good care of their bears, but was rather depressing to see them in smaller habitats. Seeing the elk in their large, open area felt more appropriate.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 August 2024

This is a small looking place when you first pull in, there is a gift shop and petting zoo on the grounds but don't let that discourage you from stopping. The hour long tour was amazing! The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Having these massive elk eat right out of your hand is so neat. Listening to the babies and mothers is something we have never heard before and is so cute. I had 4 college kids and a high schooler and they enjoyed it as well. Glad we stopped.

My family and I visited the ranch and found everyone there to be very friendly. This stuff they had for sale was enlightening. From inexpensive taste to the very extravagant tastes. 1 item I saw was over $10000 but was very beautiful and well crafted. We really enjoyed the ride through the fields where the elk were and feeding them. Great family place.

The tours are on the hour and very affordable. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. Hands down one of the best of the wildlife encounters I have been on! Make sure to put this on your to do list! One of our guides was a Coastie and was stationed in Grand Marais, one of our favorite places in the U.P.!

Great little off the beaten path experience. Saw majestic elk in various stages of development. The elk are gigantic and a neat thing to see. They eat right out your hand. They kept the biggest bulls by themselves and we did not get close to them. Jadea was a very knowledgeable guide. Little kids LOVED it!
Only negative- When we first arrived we thought it was shut down due to the overgrown shrubbery around the ticket/gift house.
I would recommend the visit for sure.

This was an ok experience. Went a few years back and had a better time. This visit it was hard to hear the girl giving the tour. It would be helpful to have tour guide with a speaker or mic. The kids were restless partly because we could not hear what she was saying. It was more a visitor lead tour with her answering a few questions here and there. Feeding the elk was fun for kids but did seem a bit drawn out at some if the pens. Not much to do waiting for your either no explanation that the donkey was the petting zoo.

This is a definite hidden gem. This is a family owned ranch and very well ran. The tour was very informational and the driver and his assistant were 2 very friendly young men who obviously love what they are doing. We will definitively want to come back.
