absolutley loved it. I went in without researching but found free guided tours or a self serve tour. There were a lot of classes touring so opted for a solo one. There was a printed guide and it was ok, but the guards that where covering the the legislative and senate rooms gave me such great stories ! I thought... More

This is a popular spot for school field trips and out-of-state travelers. They provide free tours. It's better to schedule them ahead of time. Guided tours are offered from 9:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday (some Saturdays for guided tours only). Guided tour times are subject to change daily based on staffing levels. Visitors interested in a guided tour or... More

The capitol is being restored to its historic appearance inside and many places were covered in black pastic. There is no gift shop, which I found odd compared to the other capitols we've visited. We took the tour, which was very educational. The staff and guide were very friendly and helpful. The parts that were finished look really good, and... More

A beautiful building with some interesting twists. Good tour that showcases state government and the Great Lakes State. Walk the grounds, see the monuments, and head down to the Hall of Justice.

We visited the 1879 state capitol on a Saturday, which was great. Guided tours are given regularly and the building is deserted except for tourists. The guide was engaged and informative. We saw both legislative chambers as well and the some and portraits of the governors. The building has been beautifully restored.

I visited the Capitol on a field trip with my daughter's class. The children were learning about state government and this was an awesome way for them to learn more. The visit included a lesson on Michigan's history and the architecture of the current capitol building. The building is beautiful and you can "feel" the history as you walk through... More

Great place to learn more about Michigan's history. Money was well spent in refurbishing this building. A must see if you enjoy seeing architecture.

We visited this historic building just before we left USA. Very glad we did, it was extremely interesting ..we even saw a few politicians around the place. Watching The West Wing ( 😉) helped us understand the whole political system & we were able to understand where 'State' fits in in the big picture!

The Michigan State Capitol Building in Lansing, Michigan is just stunning. The historic building is a must see while in Lansing. The Victorian building is beautiful from the outside but it is well worth taking a tour as the inside is just gorgeous. You wouldn't want to miss viewing the dome. As an architecture lover this ranks near the top... More
