Nice and not so crowded
Aug 2021
Tried this one day for a change of beach and really enjoyed - not so crowded - on the side of a large sand dune and enter through a tunnel or walk up and down the dune. Pretty cool.

Stepclimbing adventure!
Aug 2021
We didn't see the tunnel until AFTER we had already climbed the steps to the scenic view. The beach is a wonderful place to watch the sunset.

No dogs allowed
Aug 2021
It's probably great, but with no dogs allowed I may never truly find out. Will keep visiting Saugatuck Dunes state park instead...

Awesome views
Aug 2021 • Family
If nothing else, you must go to the top of the dune overlooking the lake and go through the tunnel. Beach was a little difficult to get down to due to erosion, but manageable. It was busy on a Monday afternoon, but not nearly as busy as Holland state park. The park itself it well maintained and has nice shaded parking

Something else getting to the water but still awesome
Jul 2021 • Family
We only went down to the water here. We didn't use park equipment. The bathrooms were not too messy and they got us through the parking line fairly quickly. It was an awesome walk thru the tunnel only to see the lake before us. The walk down to the water is pretty steep and might be challenging for some. Once you find a spot to sit, you have the sand dune behind you and the lake in front. Very cool experience. Kids running and rolling down the dune and chilly water below. We had a good time here. Saw two fighter jets fly over head and a huge ship sailing slowly. I would come back here for sure

Walk through a Sand Dune!
Oct 2020
Spread a blanket and watch your kids run up and tumble down a soaring sand dune (and then hear their voices echo in a tunnel as they walk through it)!

What a great find!
Jun 2020
Tunnel Park is actually a county-run park along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The park itself has the "typical" park amenities, such as picnic areas, playing fields, playgrounds, etc. But, two features set this place aside from any other county park!

The first is the named feature, which is the Tunnel that runs from the park area to a beach area. It's wonderful to walk through this tunnel, and then be greeted with an open vista of Lake Michigan. There is some sandy beach areas on this side of the tunnel, with lots of folks taking advantage on an early summer weekend day (there is a bit of a hike down a sand dune to the beach area).

I enjoyed even more the second excellent feature of this park...the viewing, picnic, and interpretative area on TOP of the tunnel. Accessible by stairs (or climbing a small sand dune), this area had several benches with beautiful views of Lake Michigan, and beyond. This was supplemented by a large grass area that many folks were taking advantage of to relax and soak in the sunshine. This area wasn't nearly as crowded as the tunnel/beach area, so could provide a nice, relaxing respite for folks.

This was definitely one of the highlights of our visit to Holland.

We loved the view above the lake. Definitely worth the time to come spend an hour or so. We also enjoyed walking through the tunnel to the beach. Beautiful

Peace
Jul 2020
The park was easily located by my tour guide Nicole. She drove us there to see the unique park. There was serenity and peace in the park. A lot of couples and old folks were seen playing with the sand and water. I felt a sense of calmness in the place.
