It was....Ok. I was not as impressed as others who wrote a review. The place reminded me of a sanitarium for the mental ill. I know a lot people reserve this place for special events. I suppose the big draw is the vicinity to the lake. I cannot say anything bad, I just was not impressed.

The home's story is interesting. The home is lovely. My average review relates to the entry fee. At $15 per person, it would have cost $60 for us all to do the tour. It's expensive for a 1/2 hour self-guided activity.

When you decide to tour a mansion, you want to see something amazing; at least I would. The estate is huge, but there is not a lot of information to go along with the tour. It is self guided and some of the rooms were working offices, so there was nothing old in them. The top floor is a ballroom that is used for weddings, I thought it just smelled like beer and was not impressed. There is also a chapel and barn on the property but they were not open.

We went to the estate today mostly because it was raining and we needed something indoor to do. We did a self-guided tour and were pleasantly surprised with how nice this was. It's definitely worth seeing when you're in the area.

More affordable than I thought with three kids, but the staff (I'm sure volunteers so I get it), weren't as helpful as I would have liked to help get us started on the self-guided tour. There wasn't good parking signage or signage for main entrance either, which would have been helpful. Beautiful place and interesting history.

We went for a guided tour of the mansion and it was so interesting! The manager (who is also the person who organized and started the restoration) lead the tour. She has so many wonderful things to share about the Felt Estate. Anyone who loves to tour mansions, will really enjoy this one.

We stopped here after walking to the lake dunes. It was interesting and better than the dunes. We just happened to be there on Monday, when it is free for seniors. The regular $15 cost is high for just a half hour self-guided tour.

I was lucky to have been there for the guided tour. They have it on the weekends over the holidays!! Patty, the woman who initiated the restoration and continues to restore the mansion and its grounds has so many interesting stories that aren't in the book. The Christmas decorations give it a very homey touch. It is mostly kept up by 3 staff people and volunteers who have done a fabulous job of restoring and fund raising to keep the mansion up. I would definitely return in the summer to see it again. They continue to raise funds to bring the gardens back to what they were. Tons of weddings are held here over the summer and throughout the year. A beautiful and memorable place to host a party and learn about the history of the Felt family.

My father took me along to the auction sale when the Felt family auctioned the contents of this beautiful mansion. Everything was way beyond belief for a kid who's dad was a plumber. Dad bought a lot of copper pipe, fittings and stuff like that. He also bought a slab of green Carcarra marble which he had cut to put as a surround on the fireplace of a new house he was building. Had to travel 45 miles to get to a stone cutter! Another thing that amazed me was a black 1936 Ford four door convertible that was in the barn. Wow! We didn't stay for that auction item.
The present mansion has been re-done and is a beautiful place to visit, and my Artist niece did wall paintings in some of the rooms.

I didn't have any expectations when going here however I heard haunted house so I was excited. 30 bucks a person to walk around an old large house that supposedly has " ghosts or haunted creatures". They let so many people in at once with flashlights that you might as well have the lights on. We went with a large group and everyone's reaction was the same. " I don't get the draw at all." If this was 5-10 dollars OK fine you saw an old decent?shape house with a OK story behind it but $30 no way....
