WARNING!! The cave is nice, BUT you have to pay 9 euros and you don't even get time to look at it. The guide does not know how to smile. He quickly informed that no one is allowed to take pictures or film, even without a flash. I can live with that. What was unbearable is that everyone had to follow quickly after the guide who rushed through the cave making it impossible to actually see it properly or to even notice anything that was not right in front of you. I understand this cave bores the guide who goes through it every day, but when I pay 9 Euros for each person, and we were 5 people so that is quite the bit of money. And then rented a car to go all the way to see this cave only to be rushed through it is disrespectful towards the visitors. They rip you off, and it is a shame considering according to the pictures they advertise the cave with, it is beautiful with many details. Only a shame we don't get to actually see it properly. I guess they got their money.. and that is all that mattered to them. Not worth the money or the drive!!!!

We arrived at twenty past 4, and asked if we were too late or if we could still see the cave (I’d tried to find Info out online beforehand but couldn’t see too much) to our delight, we were told we were just in time for the last tour at 4:30. We happily paid full price for 2 adult tickets and went to the entrance. We quickly realised we were the only 2 on the tour, and were greeted by a young female tour guide. Unfortunately, she offered very little information other than to tell us we couldn’t access all the lakes. She didn’t walk infront of us, and when I asked if she wanted to, she said ‘no it’s okay, but please hurry because we close in 10 minutes’. I honestly felt so rushed and unwelcome, as though we had really inconvenienced her. We had asked questions but we’re met with one word answers which made the experience feel even more awkward. I would have much rather been told, that we had missed entry for the day and to book for another day. It was not worth the trip for a ten minute power walk. So disappointed and feel taken advantage of for our money rather than offering an experience. I won’t be recommending to anyone.

The cave formations are exquisite and the tour is informative. Do note that while the website states 13 lakes and shows photos of people accessing the blue waters by boat, 10 of the lakes are not accessible to tourists and are for scientific study only. You can view 3 lakes, none of which are actually blue. I agree that the tour felt rushed. The museum is surprising good and well done. We spent more time in there learning about the cave.

This could have been a great place to visit, but the price of 27 euro for two adults and two older persons is a bit on the steep side for what is on offer. The "guide" called us forward with another couple and preceeded to steam ahead at full pace with the commentary in Greek. I asked politely if she could guide us in English and she said "no". And that was that. (Now before you start, I wasn't expecting her to speakj fluent English or indeed any other language, but the many attractions that I have been to over the years in many different countries, do cater for the tourists - this one does not, they just take our money).

This is all such a shame because the caves are fantastic. Just read the paper guidance notes before you go in and take a small torch so you can then read them at each designated point. Being left to our own in the caves was a little unnnerving, as the guide oomed off with the other couple, but we had fun anyway - oh, and you can't take photgraphs - but when the guide has run off, there's no-one to stop you is there?

(Just as a side note, the photos on this page are not of the caves, but of the monastery at Mega Sileo - a good place to visit)

We waited an hour for our tour to go, paid 18 euros and we were in the cave at the most, 20 minutes. Hardly any explanation and a tricky drive up to it!

I guess it is a bit impressive if you like caves and if the lakes have actual water. BUT we visited in winter and ,well there sould have been some water.....Overall it is too expensive and the tour is too short. We went on a day trip to kalavryta and we decided to go to the Cave also but i wouldn't reccomend it...Stay in Kalavryta instead, it is a beautiful place and has a lot more stuff to do :)

We were very enthusiastic to visit this place. In the beginning of our visit I was so happy to see that the BOY guide was talking a little bit in English, being a group of foreigners. After few words said like a very well learned lesson, he didn't tell us any interesting detail. The cave is beautiful, is a real natural treasure, but unfortunately the guide didn't his job with passion. I tried to ask something but he didn't understand well. It seems to have an application in English in their WiFi network, but it didn't work at that time. I don't have photos because it is forbidden there. There was a girl guide too, who seemed to me to be more friendly (maybe you are luckier than us)! It is a pity to have such a beautiful place with people who didn't their job with pleasure!

Took a long drive after we read about it, it's a poor experience, maybe it was nice 30 years ago, but facility isn't well maintained.
Guide as in Greek only, so all the tourists were not able to understand (they do offer a recorded guided tour, but its not the same)
Really disappointing experience compare to the amazing pictures they present- the pools were dark and black...
Defiantly not worth the trip especially for it

The word "cave" may be a bit misleading. In fact it's a stretch of underground river, with ledges, pools, strange rock-formations, stalactites and stalagmites created and carved out by eons of running water. The effect varies according to the season, how much rain has fallen recently, and so on.

Solid walkways and good lighting. People with normal mobility should have no problems.

Tours were only in Greek, so I made do with a basic illustrated pamphlet.

To get there by car, either drive up from Klitoria (ca. 8 kms), or take the "Helmous Ski Centre" road from Kalavryta and branch off through Ano and Kato Lousi down to the caves. The first is quicker, the second (ca. 20 kms) far more picturesque. You can get a coffee and something to eat in Ano Lousi.

Prototype cave full of lakes at different levels. You can only see five hundred meters but worth it. It's better for you to visit in the early spring when snows melt and lakes are full of water. It's very impressive that season.
