I camped here with my 27' trailer. There was no one there in November, so it gave me the privacy I wanted. The campgrounds are nice and the trails are enjoyable. My only gripe is that the full hookups get turned off in October and the restrooms and showers are closed the 1st of November. That would have been fine,... More

Stopped a check out the Logging Museum. It was really neat they had reconstructed a logging camp from the 1800s. It was awesome you can see how the they logged the great forest and with no modern equipment. Then you can hike the last grove of virgin forest left in the northern lower peninsula. If your interested in the history... More

Very nice campground. Many sites are wooded, but note that it's more so designed for campers and RVs. Since sites have large asphalt pads, there's only enough room for 1 medium size or two small tents. A large tent will not fit on a wooded site. If you have a camper, though, you'll love it. There are also plenty of... More

The hiking is paved, which is not a favorite of mine, but it is accessible to all to see the beautiful old growth forest. The museums are a must, you get to see what it was like back in the "old days" which was an eye opener for this business. They also do a Halloween party/trick or treating down the... More

We drove over from Traverse City to see the old growth forest in Hartwick Pines. The visitor center and logging museum were very informative about the logging history of the area and how this acreage came to be protected. The chapel in the woods was a nice surprise. The walkway through the woods is paved and an easy walk, and... More

My husband and I were vacationing in the area and decided to buy State Park pass. We loved the two small lakes with fishing docks. Went several times and caught a few small fish but area was quiet and scenic. Also have kayaks to rent.

The paths are paved. If someone is looking to take a lovely nature hike and wishes not to have it be challenging this might work . The park is beautiful and peaceful. The staff at the Nature Center are pleasant and helpful. The Nature Center is a nice place to spend time. There is much to learn about Michigans lumber... More

Family with 4 children under 13, enjoyed the logging museum, the gorgeous chapel and visitors center. Take advantage of these beautiful trails and HUGE trees all around!

This park is wonderful for camping. The sites are semi-private, yet sociable if you choose. There are electric and water hookups at most of these sites. There are really great trails for hiking and two nice little lakes near by. One of my favorite campgrounds.

This place is amazing. The historic logging museum is maintained excellently and the welcome center has terrific exhibits as well. The walk in the well tended walkway was stunning, seeng the incredible nature all around and some of the trees that were over 200 years old!
