Great local history

Very well done museum. Lots of great local history of the logging era. Many permanent exhibits but some changing ones also. This place is a must see if you visit Grand Haven.

A well run professionally done and staffed museum of local Grand Haven interest and history. There are special exhibits on the upper floor on a seasonal basis. The ATOMICA exhibit last summer was a surprise. Very well done. The museum is free and there is a nice gift shop. Great rainy day activity for visitors.

So this is a small town Museum with an awesome set up of how the logging industry shaped the area with a Log cabin and Indian wigwam, there is a great rock display too! Head upstairs for a very interesting display of early medical equipment and some is pretty unbelievable. They often have kids crafting events that are open to... More

Nice little displays, but nothing interactive to hold my child's interest. I liked the old road signs.

Thank you for your review! We are a little lacking in touchable artifacts at the Depot Museum of Transportation, but please come visit the Akeley building two blocks up! Many hands-on artifacts are available and each exhibit is enclosed in a little structure that would be appropriate to the era of focus. Its like the whole museum is made of... More

I like how they change the content from time to time but still keep the feel for the history of the area.

Great place to visit on a rainy day. Learned a lot and my kids enjoyed it. It is also free which is a plus for a big family, however you can give a donation.

Budget friendly small town museum with free admission, but donations are appreciated. This museum is housed in two locations. We visited the Depot Museum of Transportation, which was located in the old Grand Haven Train Depot near the shore by Grand Haven's Musical Fountain, quaint shops, and restaurants. This museum explained shipping on Lake Michigan. Our disappointment is that the... More

We went on a Saturday during Coast Guard Week. The town itself was a buzz and very nice to visit. This museum was a fun self guided tour and free. I was very surprised with the quality of the displays, being a small town free museum. If you are in the area, I recommend you visit.
