This is a great place for camping or picnics. It is 5 minutes from both Escanaba and Gladstone. It's close to the highway, but parallels the Escanaba river deep into the woods, so it's not too noisy.
There is a boat dock and hiking trails.
There are swings and slides and a pavilion with picnic tables. The slides etc are metal, so nothing fancy.
The trees are pretty exclusively coniferous so there are a lot of pine needles/cones but it isn't usually a problem.
I like it- and I live here :)

This is a nice park with lots of room between campsites. That part is great. It is in need of some updating which I understand they are going to do sometime soon. It is located right on the river, close to town and close to a boat launch. The only negatives I can see is that it is close to the paper mill so you have to deal with the smell when the wind is blowing your way and you can't moor your boat at the campground. There is a playground for the kids and running water with showers. Pit toilets are available around the campsites. It is usually quiet at night except for the road traffic. There is a nice large pavillion for family gatherings or groups. There are a few hiking trails around the park. It is pretty reasonable as far as rates go. Please check it out for yourself but don't forget the bug spray especially in the spring. They can be bad at times.

Nice place although once we got there we opted to stay at another campground in and run by the same County because it offered sites right on the Lake. It was called OB Fuller Park. It had large pull in sites with 20/30 amp and water hook ups. The bathrooms were clean. Site 23 and 17 are nicely shaded, the rest are sunny but still with plenty of trees. $2 ice on site. Basic but beautiful.

A rude group of campers camping with the camp host riding around on golf carts barking out orders at campers, my friends were packing up their camper to leave and a young kid comes over rudely telling them check out was earlier on a Sunday. There was no one booked at that site and a late check out was never a problem in the past. Very poor management.

What a great cozy campground with nice sites and close to local fun and necessities. Nice and wooded and well maintained. They had incredibly clean bathrooms. Host wasn’t really friendly but we don’t need to be buddies since the camp was very nice. I would recommend a stay here.

We followed the Pioneer Trail Park. We saw some beautiful trees, as well as Disc Golf Course.
The first thing we saw was wooden crosses.
We had the choice to do exercise or walk.
There were lots of info panels.
At the end we saw a beautiful lake.
We enjoyed this trail. It was fun.
Worthwhile to see.
Near the Pioneer Trail Park was an RV

This is a very small but very well kept park. There are spots for campers, tents, frisbee golf, hiking, a boat launch, and at the top of the hill, a pioneer cemetery! Everyone was very friendly and the area was very clean.

The park manager claims disc golfers were damaging foliage and forest floor, but he used heavy equipment to yank out the goal baskets doing more damage to the forest than any golfer did.
He forgets that this park is owned by the people who pay taxes and not his personal property. Losing this disc golf course had a huge negative impact on the local economy. And is a great loss to the area.
Makes me sick to think of how much money was invested to build this course and he arbitrarily decides it's no more. The residents of Delta county should be reimbursed for this investment out of the park managers wages. This action was wrong on so many levels. But his attitude, knowing we weren't wanted, took the fun out of playing there anyway.
This is a beautiful camp ground and park with great history, but you kind of get the idea humans aren't welcome. But maybe that's just me.

This used to be a run down campsite. Six years ago we would pull our camper in for the weekend and maybe see 5 or 6 other campers in a park that can hold 40+. Not much was in good working order. Since then Delta County has pumped some money into fixing the place up and it looks nice. But.........the "manager" has been nothing but outright rude to anybody who participates in discgolf. There was an eighteen hole discgolf course here and it brought in many tourists and locals who enjoyed the sport. Oh and by the way, as far as the campground goes don't expect it to be much fun if you enjoy campfires and late nights with friends. This place SUCKS.

I grew up hanging out in Pioneer Trail Park in the 1970's and 1980's. I recently visited the park for the first time in several decades. It has been seriously renovated and upgraded while preserving the rustic setting. The old picnic shelter has been replaced with a nice new modern one, as has the playground equipment. The park has numerous campsites with hookups, but in a rustic setting. There is access to the Escanaba River, which borders the park on one side. The local parks department has done a very nice job of updating this park while preserving its rustic charm. If you are camping or going on a picnic, I highly recommend Pioneer Trail Park.
