Went for a walk from Michigan Ave People Mover Station to the Park and the tree was still up and people were ice skating. Everyone was having a good time. If you looking to have fun and want to ice skate in the winter, stop on out!

This is a wonderful, though fairly small, park located in downtown near the River. It has plenty of room for sitting, and the trees and plants are a welcome respite. The presence of a bar and a nice restaurant make Campus Martius a fine choice on a nice day.

Our family visited Campus Martius Park just after Christmas. The lights and decorations are beautiful. The giant Christmas tree is really nice. We went ice skating on the rink at the foot of the Christmas tree and enjoyed it. The staff at the Rink were very friendly.
We also rode the bumper cars in the park. We also played the hockey mini-golf they had. It was a lot of fun.
Parking nearby can be a little tricky. We found a garage and there was plenty of space there.

Great activity in the winter months especially for families. The tree is decorated nicely. The skating rink is maintained well with periodic freshning up by the Zamboni. You can do carriage rides to see downtown Detroit. Great opportunity for photos. Skate rental and admission will cost about 10-13 dollars per person. Make sure you don't forget your socks. You might also consider bringing snacks for the kids. There is a snack place on site, but can get pricey. I highly checking out this attraction.

We went when they opened with our two beginner skater kids. We had the ice pretty much to ourselves when we arrived, but after a couple of hours it filled up and wasn't as enjoyable due to most people on the ice being beginners. The on-ice staff was very helpful with our 7 year old and helped him out quite a bit.

Nice event, live music, huge crowds- everyone friendly. Bar area serving drinks but nobody seemed overly intoxicated.Good ethnic mix & all happily celebrating ( Quite a bit of marijuana smoke despite the police presence)

The poor city if Detroit is so empty and lifeless that nothing fun goes on its street on the Christmas eve but some lights, musics and skating events in this small park ....

I took my family to see the city at the Christmas eve but almost every place was dark and closed as if the whole city was dead, the only place we've managed to find some action in it was this park.

It's a small square between buildings, with some coffees and restaurants around it and a skating playground was fixed there for the Christmas celebrations ... And almost half the city was hanging out there since this was the only place who isn't dead in Detroit, dozens of people were overcrowding to take their turn in the skating area...
Other than that, nothing, even the restaurant and shops were all closed that time..

If there's something I can say about this park at my first visit to it in the Christmas eve is that it's a poor memorial for what left of the great city of Detroit, a last place where you can find some lights and life left in the city.

I hope the good people of Detroit will find better attraction in their city in the future ,,

On a day trip to Downtown Detroit. We found a parking space right away on Woodward only a few blocks away. I loved the atmosphere especially the beach. We just sat on a beach chair with our toes in the sand, cocktail in our hand and enjoyed the people watching. There was musical entertainment as well. It was a perfect day in the "D". I highly recommend for families to go down and check it out.
