We saw the Lion King this past Saturday at 1 pm. The theatre was beautiful. This was our 1st visit and we will be back. Lion King the costumes were fantastic. The music and acting were great. It was a wonderful play. There were many children in attendance, each well behaved. To witness their delight was an added bonus. At... More

I would recommend this theater to anyone especially if you live 100 or more miles away from it. It is a beautiful place to just admire and the people who work there are exceptionally friendly and helpful. It seems so large and overwhelming but once you are there and walk around it is very simple and so, so beautiful. I... More

Saw The Lion King Feb. 16. Had accidentally ordered tickets for Wed. Feb. 15 which we discover about 5 minutes before getting there from Lansing. The box office was exceptionally helpful in getting us tickets for that night and were able to seat the three of us together. Because our view was partially blocked and usher noticed us doing a... Attended a showing of The Lion King on a Thursday evening. Completely full house but the only time it was noticed was during intermission and at the end. The main hallway is just not large enough (especially with the carts in there for food and merchandise) to make a smooth exit. Staff was wonderful and super helpful, always patient and... More

Seen The Lion King on Sunday evening. The lobby was tight with the amount of people, but the stage area was spacious enough. The seats were comfortable, the acoustics and sound were very good and the wall art was nice. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Attended Lion King on a Saturday afternoon. Attendance was high but the staff were so friendly and patient. Not once did I see or hear of a staff member losing their patience with a patron. We had lunch at the Cadillac Cafe connected to the Opera House. It, too, was lovely--expensive tho. Wish I had known about the elevator to... More

Very crowded lobby area. The venue is beautiful, however the seating area is very tight. I do enjoy musicals and the acoustics of the Opera House are fabulous. Parking is close by, however it is very crowded and you must pay $20 for the event parking. Plan to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour after getting to your... More

I have been coming to the Opera House in Detroit since I was young. It is always a glorious place with excellent acoustics and beautiful decor. It has recently, however, begun to look a little shabby so I was interested in attending a recent performance of The Lion King to see what improvements have been made. I was pleased to... More

When I visit a city, I always try to include theatre in my visit - Detroit Opera House is stunningly beautiful! Even with my last minute ticket for The Bodyguard, my seat was fantastic. Highly recommend this as part of your Detroit visit.

We went for a matinee performance of Lion King. The play was fabulous and the theater is beautiful. We had never been here before but had heard it was renovated not too long ago. Lots of gold and a gorgeous ceiling. The only bad part was getting to our seats. There was so much congestion that you were barely inching... More
