Quiet stretch of beach
Sep 2021
There are several spots to pull off and walk the beach in this state park, all of them quiet stretches of beach (at least they were when we visited in mid-September). We found several petoskey stones, which was a nice bonus!

Nice hike
Jul 2021
Wanted to do a little bit of hiking. Hwy 31 was closed but people were going through the signs so I did too. Glad I did as I made it just fine to Fisherman’s Island State Park. The ranger was really nice and gave me a map. Got a parking spot right across from the trailhead. The trail was over 3 miles long one way and I wasn’t planning on doing the whole thing. This was a great trail with only one other person on it. There were signs naming several of the trees along the way. Not sure how far I went but once I got to a smelly black mud puddle I turned around and went back. Didn't go to the beach as I had just seen the beach around Mt. McSauba.

We found Petosky stones!
May 2021
This beach was recommended to us to find Petosky and Charlevoix stones. It didn't disappoint! There were several other people there searching for the same.

Great camp sites
Sep 2020 • Couples
Nice camp sites on the water with space between sites. We only drove thru, but nicest sites I've seen in Michigan. I'm guessing it's hard to get one of those sites.

stones, stones & more stones
Sep 2020
Looking for stones - then this is a good place to do it - if you have a park pass. We did not since we've got a lease car so it cost us $17. Of course we paid this before driving in. Then as we got to the end of the road, there was a sign that the road to the beach was closed. Would've been nice to have been told that BEFORE we entered. (Found out later that the road was flooded/washed out.) When we left, we suggested to the park attendant that she should inform people, but she didn't seem to think that was an issue & just made excuses. We did find an unused camp ground spot on the beach so we were able to look for rocks there so it wasn't a complete waste. Did find a couple of small Petosky & Charlevoix stones.

Beautiful views, nice picnic spot
Jul 2020 • Family
Perfect spot for our family to have a picnic and search for Petoskey stones. There were many in a 20 -yard stretch. Peaceful spot with few people and a gorgeous view of the lake.
Beware of leaving any food out as there was an overly confident squirrel who had no trouble coming within 2 ft of us to attempt snagging our food.

Beautiful beach
Jul 2020 • Couples
Quiet beach, great for sunset. We found Petoskey stones there. Only a few other people there in the evenings, one small annoyance is a few were smoking, one a cigar. I wish beaches were non-smoking. It is not pleasant for those downwind. Other than that , people were polite and kept their distance

Beautiful, Quiet Winter Scenery
Dec 2019
The park is closed for the off season, but we enjoyed a wonderful winter hike and walk along the shore. Looking forward to returning in warmer weather to enjoy a stay.

Beautiful area; fun to walk the beach.
Sep 2019
We have been to Fisherman's Island State Park several times. This time, the water was so high there wasn't a big, wide beach like we were used to. Also you couldn't walk the beach around the point without wading pretty deep in the water. It is still a beautiful area. It was chilly and windy when we went, so we didn't swim, just walked the beach. It is worth a trip if you are in that area and like nature.
