Part of Mushroom house tour
Oct 2019
We enjoyed seeing this beautiful house with Lake Michigan views right in front of it. The story of the boulders is quite interesting. You can drive by and see the homes yourself but the tour has so much information about the area and the builder.

Very Interesting!

The hard work of Earl is clearly seen at Boulder Manor. It was such a chore to get these boulders and took years to build his homes. His homes are amazing to look at. I recommend going on the mushroom homes tour to understand and appreciate his work

Very interesting, unique home.

Such an interesting home and the reason Earl Young built it and the boulder that looks like it is holding up the arch of the house. (You will learn more about this house if you take the Mushroom Houses tour.

Highest concentration of Earl Young houses
Jul 2018 • Couples
This area seemed to have a higher concentration of Earl Young homes, but some of them were less grand and lacked the impressive views. Still very glad we walked every inch of it.

Fascinating

Earl Young is the most prominent person in Charlevoix history. He designed and built many commercial and residential buildings with local stone. A little study of his background will make your visit even more enjoyable.

We saw this home in our tour of the Mushroom homes. Very impressive and one of my favorites. Occupants must have a great view of the Lake and beach.

My favorite place in town
Jul 2016
My family used to rent this house in the summer, it's a beautiful place. A very unique home, even for an Earl Young home. This house has some of the biggest boulders of any of the homes he built. I love the miniature house he built out back, he originally built it to keep his own kids entertained while he was working. If you're interested in his work, also check out the fireplace at the Weathervane restaurant, it's made with similar and massive boulders. A note for locals, the beach shore right across from this house has more petoskey stones than you can find just about anywhere around (because no one looks that far from the public beach).

A Nice Stone House
Jun 2015 • Couples
It's in a lovely setting. The history of the area and certain houses is, indeed, interesting. It's certainly no harm to drive by and check it out if you have nothing else going on.
