We camp here from time to time. There are three lake loops and one pines loop off the lakefront. The pines spots are newer and all paved with lots of trees and shade. The 2 loops spots designated by numbered spots are older and more...More

We stayed here for 7 nights in August. Beautiful campground, really enjoyed our site (29) as it was very wide and had good space for our 25' camper. The lakeside sites, while beautiful, are quite shallow, and I'm not sure how much I would enjoy...More

Go for pitches by the lake if you can. As ever the facilities are excellent. Fantastic view of the lake. Would recommend to anyone.

I was here just to do some geocaching. Lots of varied scenery throughout the park and opportunities to learn about the area. Spent about four hours hiking, very enjoyable.

I was excited to try the park's new "walk-in" camp sites, but was really disappointed. They are not private -- most are basically on a parking lot -- and are small. Ours, site T, was the nicest -- right on the lake and a bit...More

We have gone to this park a couple of times in the past and rented one of the rustic cabins. We were able to rent one again and it did not disappoint. These are rustic, no electric, bedding. There is a pump for water, and...More

Tried out site Y at the new rustic campground area. Loved our site and we had a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan. However, our site was right on top of the non-rustic sites and had a lot of generator hums and radios at all hours....More

My family spent a long weekend at Wilderness State Park this past weekend in July and overall, we had a great time. The park was packed and the campsites are very small with no privacy which was disappointing but manageable. The bathrooms are old but...More

If you drive to the Southern end of the park there are dunes and really nice swimming in Sturgeon Bay. You don't have to pay either, just park along the road. There was hardly anyone there. I think it was about a 15 minute drive...More

Not sure about the swimming. We didn't go in the water. MOST of the shoreline in that area is pretty rocky. It was not far from the campsites we saw though. Water is likely pretty cold even in August.
