Loved this park for camping and close access to Lake Michigan! Lots of wilderness, trails and ok rest rooms and showers. Want to come back again next summer. A bit crowded but so easy to get off on your own to hike and explore

We stayed in the bunkhouse cabins Labor Day weekend. Other than a shower Saturday afternoon while we were at the Island, the weather was great. The bunkhouses are very basic. 12 sets of bunk beds and a table with chairs. There are small closets by...More

This state park has beach areas for and without pets. The beach is sandy and the water stays shallow for a long while. Multiple campgrounds give you electricity or no amenities. We like it here.

Wilderness State Park has “rustic” tent campsites. They are more secluded than a typical campground and most have Lake Michigan beachfront and lake views. Other campers walked over from the rv full hook up campground and told me how great my site and setup were.....and...More

I can't say much about the campground where you can park your RV or trailer as I was tent camping. There's an older tent camping site to the west of the RV park that seems a little cramped with everyone on top of each other....More

My son and I rented a cabin a couple times at Wilderness State Park. Easy to get to, basic accommodations that fully met our needs for peace and quiet along the Lake Michigan shore.

Wilderness is great! I’ve been to Mackinaw City so many times and have stayed in the hotels with all the other people...but for a short drive away to be right on the lake with hardly any people is amazing. The park is a bit weird...More

I have camped many places in Michigan throughout the years, and have found Wilderness Cabins to be my favorite. The camp grounds are kept clean. The cabins are great! If you are looking for some great times camping, this is the place to go. Will...More

This park is wonderful because it is truly wild. There are excellent hiking and biking trails, however, there are tons of places to explore off trail. One of our favorite things to do is hike the beach to Waugoshance Point and skip stones and write...More

All of the hiking trails are open to biking EXCEPT Waugoshance point and any beach areas. Basically, any established trail. There are some nice flat sections and some hilly sections. Be sure to ask a ranger and note which... More

The tent sites have a fire ring, but no grills or grates. I used my Coleman stove to cook and the fire ring was solely for atmosphere.

They do not allow dogs in the rustic cabins. The fine print in the reservation states as much. I know because I wanted to bring our dog : )
