Incredible vistas at every turn, the relaxing melody of water streaming out...

Incredible vistas at every turn, the relaxing melody of water streaming out of several iconic fountains, the comforting smell of flowers in one of the many remarkable gardens, the feeling of history and architectural wonder all around you…just a taste of what awaits at Cranbrook House and Gardens, a National Historic Landmark.

Cranbrook House is a 1908 estate designed in the Arts & Crafts style by noted Detroit architect, Albert Kahn, for the founders of Cranbrook, newspaper mogul George Gough Booth and his wife, Ellen Scripps Booth. From spring through fall, guests can tour the oldest manor home in metro-Detroit and the beautiful 40 acres of gardens that surround it; both maintained brilliantly by a non-profit, volunteer run organization, Cranbrook House and Gardens Auxiliary.

We invite you to explore our historic estate, take a tour, join a program or attend an event. Members/volunteers and donations are always welcome as well. We hope you enjoy your time at Cranbrook House and Gardens and thank you in advance for visiting!

Metro Detroit has a lack of gardens and parks, but Cranbrook House and Gardens will fulfill all of your needs for both in one spot, and give you a big dose of some of the world's best architecture and design to boot. I will never understand why this place is not better known. It is not only a gem for... More

This was surprisingly a beautiful and well put together Garden, it sits on the campus of Cranbrook Kingwoods Boys school and is impeccable kept up. We took many pictures and plan to attend again.

Wonderful holiday tour of the Cranbrook house with my Mom for Christmas. We have never been there before and the docents were very welcoming and gave us the history of the home as well as explaining the wonderful Holiday exhibits that were displayed. Would definitely go back in the spring to see the gardens bloom!

I only toured the Gardens and not the house as I did not want to pay money. The Gardens was nice but nothing special. It was just like walking around the grounds of a nice mansion. Definitely not worth the 30 minutes drive! Though I did have a Michigan Activity Pass, which allowed me free admission into the nearby art... More

Beautiful and serene. Gorgeous setting just off the main drag (Woodward) in suburban Bloomfield Hills. Cranbrook never fails to impress locals and visitors alike.

Whether walking the grounds, joining a formal tour of the gardens or visiting the "house", it is always a joy to come to Cranbrook and benefit from the enthusiasm of the volunteers that make these visits such a joy. Cranbrook is the best for a jog, a walk, a museum visit or a learning tour about the area.

I'm always surprised how many people who live in SE Michigan are either not aware of the beautiful Cranbrook campus or have not been there in many years. I took a friend from Florida to the Cranbrook House, Gardens and grounds in late June. She couldn't get over how beautiful it is there. On this particular trip we did not... More

One of the most enchanting estates in the United States, Cranbrook House and Gardens offers beauty at every turn. It is filled with sculptures, fountains, sunken gardens, terraces, and little bridges, all exquisitely done and wonderfully preserved.

We stopped for a stroll in the gardens. Very nice and well kept. We did not tour the house as this was an impromptu visit. I wish we had more time. Definitely a lot to see. And its free.
