My favorite thing is to take a canoe out on the river on a hot summer day. But the trail system is also amazing - this is a really special place tucked into the south end of Lake Bellaire.

Grass River Nature Center is a great stop for the whole family, but check times open as closed some winter months. The hiking trails are amazing both summer and winter and always open. Peaceful, quiet, bubbling river in all seasons, bird watching. Winter snowshoeing and cross country. It is a stress reliever to take some time there.

We spent the past two afternoons enjoying the trails. Yesterday snowshoeing and today cross country skiing. Nice trails designated for each activity. Very quiet, we did not see anyone else on the trails either day.

We have been here a few times. Even though we haven't seen any wildlife, we always have a nice hike on the grounds. It's a little off the beaten path, but not hard to get to.

Excellent place to take a hike, snowshoe, or cross country ski. The wood are peaceful, there are many birds to view and the paths are well groomed!

We love taking the quiet boardwalk trails, especially the trails that lead to Grass River pier. Beautiful views at the dock and interesting wild flowers that vary with the season.

Hiked two different paths. One downland path over boardwalks through a marsh to the river and back. A second upland path through the woods. Saw many mushrooms of various colors, snakes, chipmunks and unidentified birds. Both paths were easy to hike and very relaxing. Stopped at the Nature Center and the ranger there was very cheerful and enthusiastic. She was... More

Mid September, the weather was warm with a cool breeze. It had rained the day before and the forest was still damp so everything was extra vibrant. I walked the Fern Trail and the Woodland. Both were so gorgeous I almost cried - I'm not kidding. Photos don't explain the magic. Carpets of moss and ferns, gentle trickling streams, random... More

Nice nature center with very helpful staff. Trails are well maintained , be careful on Boardwalk since the walk can be slippery. Nice bird viewing area where you can sit 15 feet from feeder and the birds will give you a good close. Varied landscape with streams, bogs wetlands and hardwood forests.
