We were lucky enough that our visit on a wet day coincided with the lighthouse being open and the four of us (mixed ages) thought enjoyed our visit. It was highly informative, unusual as we got to climb to the top and the volunteer team that showed us about were lovely. There was a toilet on site and a small exhibition. Special shout out to Ben - so charming and passionate about this place.

My husband and I made a quick stop here while riding our motorcycles along the coast road. Parking is extremely limited, so we parked in a small space that cars wouldn't be able to fit in (all parking spaces were taken). The lighthouse is beautiful, one of my favorites I've visited in the area. You can't go inside the fence currently due to renovations, but you can get a close view anyway because of how close the lighthouse sits to the road.
Across the street is a small viewing area with a bench. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands. Absolutely stunning scenery. We enjoyed a snack break on the bench while watching the sailboats.
This is absolutely worth a visit if you're in the area. If you're like me and like going to see lighthouses, you won't be disappointed. The twisty coast road makes for a great drive or motorcycle ride too.

Cute little Lighthouse located on top of a hill with a small parking area that can hold 4 cars with the small white fence separating the parking lot from the privately own lighthouse/house area. Quick drive down from the hill beach ~ with no parking?!

The lighthouse is currently closed. The building is being renovated for a museum. There was construction equipment (earth movers and concrete trucks) on site. The parking spaces off the road were open.

beautiful classic New England lighthouse. Great views of Martha's Vineyard and the harbor back to Woods Hole. Grounds under renovation so we could not tour.

Limited parking, but off season we were just fine. Such a picturesque lighthouse and house attached. The views are spectacular along the weaving coastal road here. Well worth the visit.

Got dropped off at Nobska Light to start a 5 miler with my neighbor from Falmouth. When we arrived we were ‘in line’ to take a picture of ourselves with the beautiful lighthouse as our backdrop. We could have driven ourselves to the site- there are a few parking spots- but we didn’t want to have to drive back to pick up a car after our long walk. The view of Nobska is beautiful and the view FROM the lighthouse is beautiful. Well worth the visit!

Take the route along the shore that goes past the lighthouse and eventually leads to Woods Hole. Twisty road with gorgeous views of the water, marshes, and mysterious woods. Apparently the lighthouse is private and you can't visit.

Do you need a car if spending day at Martha’s Vineyard ?

if you are going into Oak Bluffs it is totally walkable. you can catch a sightseeing bus (school bus) to tour the island. you can rent bikes and scooters, too. Nice town, gingerbread houses, homemade fudge, chowder, antique merry-go-round, shops, and beach, too. Good first visit idea is to take the Island Queen out of Falmouth for the day.

Where is Nobska Lighthouse Beach?

From Falmouth, Ma, drive towards Woods Hole on Woods Hole Road. (It is a very short drive.) Just as you approach the village of Woods Hole, turn left onto Church St. Cross a wooden bridge and admire the magnificent homes along the road. Within a half mile Nobska Beach will appear on your right just as you approach the water. Nobska Light will be visible ahead. The island of Martha's Vineyard can also be seen across Vineyard Sound. After, or before, your visit to Nobska, stop in Woods Hole for lunch or dinner, visit the aquarium and stroll through the village.

If we leave our car in Falmouth as is suggested and take the WHOOSH trolley to WHOI, how do we get to Nobska Lighthouse? Can we walk? Is there a loop bus?

I didn't notice the trolley. Most people ride their bikes up there. My husband and I walked there and back from the Woods Hole Inn. The weather was nice, so we made the most of it. You can drive to the lighthouse, but there are only about 3 parking spaces.
