Woods Hole Oceanographic is famous for its contributions to the world body of oceanographic knowledge, and its cutting edge exploration technology. Before visiting, it may be wise to see if there are any special tours or exhibits. Summer is generally the best time to go, when Woods Hole is busy and the restaurants are open.

This is one of the top Oceanographic Research places in the world. staffed by fantastic scientists and with amazing gear. It's not really a tourist attraction, though.

Spent an hour in here learning all about the submarine Alvin and his role in the discovery of the Titanic. There were also some great educational displays about marine mammal echolcation and shark research.

Location holds an exceptional oceanside graduate school for study of the sea and the biological and physical sciences related to it. Reminded me of CalTech in its emphasis on graduate study and the observable numbers of visiting fellows from around the world. A good place to see if one is visiting the Cape. That said, actual tour is not scientifically... More

There is an info office which was a little pointless then across the street there was a visitors center. We walked in here and were treated to two gentlemen, who I took to be... More

Had a great tour of this facility and learned about the way research can be carried out in the depths of the sea. Interesting film and museum.
