More
The Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) is dedicated to scientific discovery and improving the human condition through research and education in biology, biomedicine, and environmental science. Founded in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, in 1888, the MBL is a private, nonprofit institution and an affiliate of the University of Chicago. Learn more about the Marine Biological Laboratory by visiting the Pierce Exhibit Center at 100 Water Street open from April - October. The Center is named in memory of Robert W. Pierce, a former Trustee of the Laboratory who enjoyed sharing the MBL story with his many friends and colleagues. Public tours are available from late June - Labor Day Monday through Friday at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Reservations are suggested and can be made by visiting our website under the PUBLIC link. Off-season tours (September - early June) for school groups or other large types of groups are available. Reservations are required. Please call for more information.

It's always wonderful to be back and see the historic MBL. Things have changed yet stay the same. The setting is ideal. The MRC often gives tours. Stop by and ask. Just walking around the eel pond is fun for me.

Free on weekdays! If you are a hobbyist this is a must see. I enjoyed viewing so many of the adult specimens found off our waters.

Our docent-led tour of MBL was very interesting. I enjoyed entering the lab containing tanks of sea creatures used for study. In the library we saw scientists at work. This was an hour very well spent.

We had a good time walking around and learning the history. A fun, but not execellent app that helps you get around and learn. Nice people who were willing to answer questions. Aquarium was fun too.

Just stopped in to meet our son but heard they are doing excellent and exciting work there. They participated in the July 4th parade with great costumes.
