Take the guided tour of this fascinating home and gardens that is lovingly maintained by a non-profit foundation. Spectacular views of surrounding areas. The interior of the house has the original furniture and furnishings, which is so rare to find.

Beautiful grounds and very knowledgeable tour guide. Wonderful to learn about an old home in Stockbridge and the history of the family who founded Choate School in Wallingford, CT and Barnard. Great history

Accessible by guided tour only, but well worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to provide meaningful details about the history of the house and its owners. The house is just as it was when it was donated to the Trust in 1958, so is an unspoiled trip back in time. The house has unusual large plate... More

We met a lovely young lady that was working in the café during our visit. She gave us an overview of Naumkeag and a map of many other historical sites Massachusetts that we plan to visit. We walked the grounds for a half hour before our tour and found them well-maintained. For a summer "cottage" from the late 1800s it... More

We arrived in Naumkeag just at lunch time and after parking we decided to eat our sandwiches next to our car before going up to the house. After about 15 minutes of us sitting and having a sandwich one of the staff comes over and rudely tells us that we should have first go up and pay the admission fee... More

We spent a morning here and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were a little surprised how few people locally seemed aware of it though. The first receptionist we asked at our hotel had not heard of it although another was very enthusiastic about it. The taxi driver told us he'd been a taxi driver 31 years and we were the first... You can tell that the volunteer docents are very proud of this historic home in Stockbridge. It's early owners were the beloved Choate family and their influence and contributions are well worth hearing. We visited in the Fall and were not able to take in the full effect of the grounds and gardens, but one can tell that they were... More

The day we visited we originally had other plans but my husband got some poison ivy on his hands. We needed something to do that wasn't too far from us (as husband thinks he needs to give me driving advice) and that didn't require husband to use hands. After consulting trip advisor, we decided to give it a try. The... More
