How lucky are we? Sankaty light is one of our 3 lighthouses. Sankaty sits on a bluff that has been a concern due to erosion. Over the years, houses and the lighthouse have been moved to accommodate Mother Nature. Sankaty is a private golf club with greens that make the view fabulous. There are several tour buses that drive past... More

Beautiful working lighthouse that was moved away from the crumbling bluff. Good signage explaining the site and plenty of parking.

This side trip offers a beautiful view of Sciasconsett from the bluff overlooking the ocean. In addition there are some lovely homes to be seen on the drive to the lighthouse. There are some plaques with information on the history which is interesting since the lighthouse was moved inland a bit due to erosion.

This is a lovely lighthouse on Nantucket but you have to really pay attention as far as which road to take to be able to get really close to it. The bike path that you bike on will not get you to it and if you cross the road you will not be able to get to it either as... More

Second time visiting this site. Helps you understand the enormous dedication of the lighthouse keeper in protecting ships & crew. Lovely setting at the edge of the sankaty golf course too.

This is definitely worth a drive out, particularly at sunset. Great scenery along the way, too. Quintessentially picturesque.

Beautiful lighthouse located about 7 miles out of Nantucket Town in an area greatly affected by winter storms and erosion. The cliff erosion has speed up in the past years, dozens of homes have been relocated, a few structures went into the ocean. Now a fence keeps tourist safe. The lighthouse overlooks the golf course and Jack Welch's (CEO of... More

One of the best sights on the island. You need to drive or ride a bike down Baxter Road to see it but the vistas are amazing and gardens along with way are gorgeous!

Sankaty Head light house is in Sconset - on the eastern tip of the island. You need a car to get there. Historical markers - give the history of the lighthouse.

We loved biking out to this lighthouse every morning. Bring a camera, because it is so natural and quiet. The golf course is righ next to the light house.
