I love this place. Long stretches of beaches and only the occasional walker. This is a great place for a quiet lunch and chair.

I went with a dear friend of mine for an extended weekend and was overall impressed with the Blue Inn. The interior decorations of the hotel and rooms was nautical, done very classy with many hints of blue (not tacky, a blue theme could be hit or miss) they even had beautiful blue glass stones around the entrance. We got... More

The header on this article claims dogs are allowed on the beach 9/15. Not true. The beach is open to dogs October 15th - May 15th. Remember to clean up after your dog, or we will lose those privileges, too.

Bring your boogie boards and your sunscreen, low tide on Plum Island is a great way to spend a day! Check the tide chart, bring an umbrella to sit under, and pack a lunch. Two hours before low tide through two hours after low tide are the best times for family fun on the beach. Most of the parking is... More

Have been here several times for swimming and picnicking during the summer months and once for a bird-watching trip during the spring, when we hoped to glimpse the nesting plover. Before reaching the beach, however, we spent considerable time on a number of trails on Plum Island, including the Dune and Marsh Loops, seeing a wide variety of birds The... More

With the confluence of the Merrimack River and the Atlantic Ocean, this is a lovely area, especially at sunset. The beach is very granular and wraps around the island, making for a variety of views. You'll see fisherpeople, beachcomers, and people having family portraits taken.

Parking is very limited but there are a few lots where you can pay to park. No bathroom facilities at beach but you can walk to a restaurant and grab a bite and use the restrooms there. Can be a bad undertow so not the best beach for kids.

We stopped at this beach on a very cold and rainy spring day to let the kids and dog get some energy out. Great stop! Dog-friendly off season and we were able to let our dog off-leash a bit to run since no one was on the beach. Pretty, New England coastline with lots of tiny, historic beach cottages on... More

After a delicious lunch in Ipswich and before making our way to Gloucester we stopped at Plum Island for a beach walk. My niece and I enjoyed the beach --part of it was closed off for Plovers nesting and there was someone watching over the boundaries. We were glad to see her and told her about a wounded seagull we...
