Our guide was Diane, an intelligent, witty, incredibly knowledgeable, and engaging person. She brought Melville to life and made us eager to learn more. The house and grounds are fascinating as well.

What a lovely tour by a wonderful tour guide.....I have lived only a couple miles from Herman Melville's House my entire life and have never been...It took my cousin visiting from CA to finally go....We enjoyed every minute of the tour and felt transported back...More

Yes, you can sit at Melville’s desk and see Mt. Greylock, his inspiration for Moby Dick. And you can sit on the Piazza and see the “I and My Chimney” fireplace. But no interior photos, please. Of all of the author homes I visited on...More
