With only a few hours to visit Martha's Vineyard we decided the best use of our time was a guided tour. Troy was a wonderful host and guide. He is very informative and entertaining. As a resident he is able to point things out most people would never know. We enjoyed this tour very much and appreciated having Troy as our guide as he made us feel more like having a friend taking us around his home. Thank you Troy!

And yes, the tour is about 2.5 hours with only a single stop but that is known before buying the ticket so if that's not something you can do then please don't complain and choose another activity.

If you don't mine sitting in a van with 10+ passengers for 2.5 hrs. with one 15 min break, and a guide that speaks so fast and many words are so mumbled that you can barely catch what he was saying, then this is the tour for you!
True, you get to see the island, but this guide gave little information about the history, and we could barely understand him. My suggestion is to let him do the driving and leave the guiding to a prerecorded presentation! An even better suggestion is to save your $50 a person and do a self-guided tour.

The driver/tour guide was difficult to understand and using a microphone made him too loud in the small van. He felt the need to literally point out every bed and breakfast and store along the road. We did not care for the Hollywood celebrity pointing out of houses where famous people lived 50 years ago. We heard very little history of the island. The driver/tour guide complained about the local medical facility and seemed to dislike Bill Clinton (he talked about Monica Lewinsky). I think it would have been cheaper to tour the island in a Uber.

Troy was a great driver and tour guide. Learned so many things we never would have discovered by ourselves. Get there early, take the tour, and leave some time in between to explore a little. We did and it was great. Highly recommend Troy and this tour.

We went to Martha’s Vineyard for a day last week, and by the time we were sure about the weather- the top rated tours listed on TripAdvisor were sold out. We only had one day, so we went through the MV Chamber of Commerce website, and found the Oak Bluffs Land & Wharf Co history tours. After we found them- we realized that they have good reviews on Trip Advisor, but their listing is hard to find presumably due to the fact that you cannot make a reservation through TA directly, or maybe some sponsorship deal.

The tour meeting location is just steps from the Hy-Line ferry dock, in front of the Dockside Inn hotel. We were greeted by our driver Troy- who proved to have encyclopedic knowledge of the island and it’s history. There were only 4 of us on the tour (15 passenger van), which was surprising since all the other tours were sold out. Troy was superb, very personable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. He was very helpful in suggesting other things to see & do on MV before “going back to America.” We can recommend this experience with no hesitation.

Tips: search for them by name- and they will come up even on the Trip Advisor website. When you link to their website- we got a warning that the website was “not secure”- but since we were using a VPN we felt comfortable accessing it. The reservation/payment process allowed use of PayPal, which also enhanced our comfort level with the transaction. Finally- I am not sure how many drivers they have, but request a tour narrated by Troy! You won’t be disappointed!

I have mixed emotions about this tour. I had booked a tour with another company first but they cancelled our tour the day before so I am very thankful that this company was available. However that is where it ends. Like a few other reviews- I think it depends on what driver you get. The driver was very knowledgeable and drove well but was very hard to understand (I think he has dentures that don’t fit well??) I could have lived with that but the worst part as there is only ONE stop on the whole tour. So you drive around and look at sites that you aren’t able to experience- it seemed cruel. I asked at one point if we could get off at a town and the driver got flustered and said where would you like me to park the van? Eyeroll emoji. Needless to say he did not let us get off the van. Everyone in our group fell asleep on the tour at one time or another because we were so bored. If you could add at least 4-5 stops it would be a much more enjoyable tour. Sadly I can not recommend this tour as it currently is. Hopefully they will reconsider how they conduct the tour.

Most definitely the worst tour we’ve ever been on. For 2.5 hours we could not understand anything the tour guide said. Was speaking to fast and it sounded like he had marbles in his mouth. When this was mentioned to him stating maybe it was the mic, he said he would see what he could do. Nothing changed.
Also, driving about 55plus miles an hour, all he did was point to something on either side of the road tell us what it was and zoomed by. No slowing down, we saw nothing. When asked if he could slow down so we could possibly get a better look at things, we were told with a chuckle like we’re idiots, “well it is a state highway”. One stop at a lighthouse that we couldn’t go in if we wanted to because he only gave us 20 mins. All we could do was use the bathrooms, get a drink and hurry up to a spot over looking the cliffs. When heading back to the van we overheard him complaining about people taking more then 20 mins.
I called the company to request a refund because we were so disappointed and was asked why it took me 4 days to call (I was still on vacation and truly it shouldn’t matter when I called), was told that they don’t offer refunds and that I got in the van and took the tour so I received their services. I ask if I should have checked before I got on if the tour was terrible and should I have asked the driver to leave us somewhere because it was so unenjoyable. The company had no response for that, just proceeded to tell me they do not give refunds. Very very bad business. I would not recommend the tour company to anyone

This was our first trip to MV. Our tour guide, Troy, was very knowledgeable and truly gave us information that made us better appreciate the island and its people.
Great experience!!! 5 stars hands down!

This tour was amazing! Our guide Todd was terrific and so knowledgeable about the history of the Martha's Vineyard and the numerous special parts of the island. It was a comfortable, well air conditioned van and everyone onboard thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Todd was personable and witty and spoke to everyone in our group in a kind a personable manner. I highly recommend this 2.5 hour tour!

As an educator, this is one of the most inclusive and multi-perspective tours I've ever experienced. Troy made sure not to sugarcoat the Black, Indigenous, or white experiences not only of Martha's Vineyard, but in America as a whole. I wish more of the majority were this intentional in sharing America's story. It's not pretty, but how else will we move forward? If you take a tour of MV, and we covered the entire island in 2.5 hours, I highly recommend this one. You will learn a lot, be entertained, and pay homage to the original inhabitants of the island; the Wappanoag.
