Went for the Nick Cave installation and was blown away. If you have not been to MASS MoCA, be prepared to do some walking. It is a converted Sprague Electric mill and is massive which is needed for the large art pieces displayed here. Sol Lewitt wall paintings and drawings take up 3 floors and ascend through his career. Photos... More

Mass MoCa is a great day trip from the Greater Hartford area. It took us two hours to drive there and the drive is a pleasant one. Scenic Route 2 is a trip in itself! This is the old "Mohawk Trail," famous for bumper to bumper leaf-peepers in the fall. The ride, largely skirting the Deerfield River, is "New-England-Plus" --... More

This small museum has an amazing permanent collection of contemporary art, and a really cool outdoor sculpture collection. Set in an old factory, you can imagine working there 150 years ago. Great fun.

Mass MoCA was definitely worth the visit. We enjoyed all the art exhibits, but also really enjoyed checking out the facility and the great care that was taken in renovating the old mill buildings. It is a seriously cool spot to check out.

Mass MoCA is an amazing museum. Because of the size of it's location - in a former industrial complex - MoCA can host huge installations and enormous pieces of art. I don't always get it; sometimes the artists' intentions are mystifying. But I always leave surprised by something. MoCA also has a very active schedule of performances and events.

My wife and I have been lucky enough to visit several contemporary museums in different parts of the world. This time we decided to visit one a little closer to home, but still five hours away. Truthfully we did not know what to expect given the small town this museum is located in. Yet we very much wanted to see... More

Fun Museum a little off the beaten path. Nice way to spend an afternoon. We went on the free museum highlights tour which really added to the experience.

We happened to be here on a day when admission was free, which was a nice surprise. We would have happily paid as the museum has plenty to offer. Many impressive and large exhibits that you actually walk through to experience. There was one large gymnasium-sized room with mobiles that was simply stunning. Very easy to spend a couple of...
