Walk along paved road or use the trails to get to the top for a beautiful view of Boston. Plenty of picnic spots, parking and fellow hikers around. Restrooms and running water for dogs to drink from. Observatory at top keeps a bowl of water out for dogs who make the hike. Best part f all, free! Although next time... More

The blue rectangle trail from headquarters winding up and around multiple slopes, over rugged rocky terrain led to the most picturesque view. Luckily we summited on a perfect spring day - 59 degrees with warm sunlight and just the slightest cool breeze. There were many other hikers passing along the trails, including kids and dogs to keep things lively and... More

The DCR Blue Hills Reservation stretches over 7,000 acres from Quincy to Dedham, Milton to Randolph. We had cabin fever and decided to hike somewhere new, glad we checked this out! Many, MANY trails, from all different levels of difficulty, from around a pond to a 635ft peak. The trail map was amazing, I wish all trails had them done... More

There are tons of walking trails with different obstacles and levels in mind. There are a few steep areas that give an intermediate hiker some fun, but can be avoided if you are more novice. Recommend hiking from to the observatory for some very nice views of the Boston skyline. Only downside is that there isn't much parking, especially in... More

Dozens + trails. Never get bored always different. Easy to extremely challenging depending on your fitness level. Much to do from hiking, biking, etc. sometimes the best gems are in your own backyard

This 8,500 acre park incorporates parts of the City of Quincy, Milton, and Canton. I highly recommend that from I-93 south you take exit 8 and you drive along Wampatuk and Chickatawbut Drives (stopping at the Chickatawbut lookout for the best views of Boston) and then you proceed on to Route 138 and turn north and park in the parking... Blue Hills Reservation is a good spot to go hiking for a day and feel like you're in the wilderness in the Boston area. The roads through the reservation are pretty to drive on as well, especially when the leaves are changing. Certain spots offer pretty good views of the Boston area to the north. Keep in mind that you... More

They have a nature museum at the bottom of the hill and several free outdoor animal exhibits that are great for kids. If you are up for a hike you can climb to the top and see the surrounding area including downtown Boston. Pack a lunch and make a day of it.

"New Hampshire in the miniature", within 20-30 minutes of Boston. Great full-day hikes, and many shorter hikes. Try the Skyline trail (all-day hike).
