The J.O.J. is upstairs over the Marblehead Museum's main gallery and offices on Washington St. It is definitely worth visiting if in Marblehead since you'll find nothing else like it in the area.

I love the J.O.J. Frost Gallery. You learn so much about Marblehead History as well as about how one citizen remembered the old days of fish flakes and the 1846 Great Gale. A must visit - will only take 15-30 minutes.

JOJ's story - peddling his prolifery from a cart, while townspeople crossed the street to avoid him - is the wry backdrop to the disarmingly intricate historical depictions, done in primitive style, with, of all things, house paints! Wish I could have seen his brushes....More
