We are so lucky to live close to the Mount Misery Reservation! It was a lifesaver for us during the lockdown. This reservation has it all: a maze of well-marked groomed trails, lovely ponds covered with blossoming lilies, marshy spots, picturesque Sudbury river and the big farm bordering the forest.

The parking area is small but you can park at the nearby canoe dock parking lot and walk towards the woods.

The forest looks gorgeous during foliage days... All shades of yellow and red reflecting in the dark ponds... Pure magic!

Mt Misery is a hill in Boston Metro West. Although not a "destination" hike, the conservation land of its location is laced with pleasant foot paths that are mostly on old woods roads (read wide, fairly smooth, good footing, and gentle grade). Views from the top of Misery are underwhelming. Some of the paths are open to mountain bikes.

Most trails seem to be marked but informational signage is rare; a map from the relevant town conservation commission would help. In principle it should be possible to walk from Rte 117 near the Sudbury River crossing to Walden Pond in Concord; however, since one is traversing public lands in 3 different towns, the way is not obvious.

My wife and I walked from the Rte 117 parking area, up Misery and eventually to the Lincoln MBTA train stop where there are shops, restaurants and a supermarket. On the Sunday we were there the place was mostly closed except for one restaurant ($$) and the market (which has a deli with sandwiches). We found the path from the Mt Misery area to Lincoln by asking a volunteer ate the community farm. By the most direct route the one way distance is about 2 miles.

All in all, a pleasant place to walk and explore. Appropriate for all ages.

Mt Misery, in Lincoln, MA, is relatively small, but has trails in a variety of settings. A wide hard-packed dirt path goes through a heavily wooded area, with no sign of civilization, leading to a wide open to the sky dirt trail leading through one of the last working farms in Greater Boston. Then there is the narrow trail to the short summit of Mt Misery, occasionally steep. A very good day trip. Bring a cold drink and a sandwich. And a trash bag. There is a trail map posted in a small parking lot off Rte. 117, and there may or may not be handouts available with a map.

We drive to Mount Misery from Wayland whenever we want to spend a few hours in the woods. With lots of access points, you can walk for 45 minutes to the top of 250 foot tall "Mount" Misery, or for an entire day if you follow the trails on into the rest of Lincoln and Concord. The trail system is a bit convoluted, and its not always easy to see the trail across the road, but the terrain, the trees and the next bend always reward.

We bring our dogs here - probably their favorite place. Lots of others bring dogs, so lots of sniffing to see who's been visiting recently. Heaven on Earth for our two. Most dog owners are responsible and make sure the trails are clear. Some push it a little - you may see some poop on the edge of a trail or two (unless are dogs are significantly in the woods, we bag and carry what they leave). Lots of walkers without dogs. Great local history about the 19th century Concord existentialists hooking up at Mt. Misery (wink and blush). Access to the river after a short walk/hike in. Parking is okay, but can be muddy.

Better than blue hill and less crowded but still not the hike I was looking for. I ended up completing a walk through the woods in under an hour and decided to try and find s better spot. I ended up driving to Pisgah Mountain about 30 minutes from Misery. Way..... Better!

My husband and I wanted to enjoy the beautiful fall weather, and chose Mount Misery as a spot to tromp around in the woods. Our problem, not having been there before, is that we couldn't tell one trail from another, and we lost our way--and neither the map we had nor Google maps was very helpful. We did find our way back, but strayed far from our planned loop. I assume the folks who go there all the time know where they want to go. Nice walk through woods and farmland though.

The only problem are unleashed dogs who often take a nip at you. To avoid this potential problem stick to the trails marked leashed. The dog owners are pretty good about this. Otherwise a lovely place that can take you by trail all the way to Walden Pond.

It might be a bit much to call it "Mount" but it's a beautiful spot. It was quite windy and so as we walked along the trail there were leaves falling down everywhere. It was absolutely beautiful. There weren't a lot of people there so it was a great walk around with my husband and enjoy nature. If you want a quick hike in the woods this is the place to go!

It was a nice hike . All the paths were flat and cleared for the most part. Except a few near the top which my Hubby And I cleared as we were heading up. My only regret was that there was no view at the top. It was an easy hike till the very end kinda got out of breath at the top section so took it slow.
