Even if you are not a golfer, you can have an incredible, albeit costly, stay at Cranwell, a beautiful resort, nestled in the magnificent Berkshires in western Massachusetts. There is everything you could want, gorgeous scenery, excellent service, a beautiful, full-service spa, gourmet meals, and the biggest plus for my husband and me, a very short drive to Tanglewood, Summer... I booked 2 days at Cranwell to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday. At check-in, we were upgraded to a suite in the Beechers cottage. The cottage is a beautiful Victorian building and our room on the first floor was absolutely lovely. We ate on the patio at Sloane's. The margaritas are fabulous and the house-made potato chips are, too. The... More

The Cranwell golf course is riding on its laurels. I played in July 2016 and found it to be a badly neglected course. One hole has two traps that have long been abandoned, with no sand and long weeds growing in them. Many of the edges of the greens looked like dried crocodile skin, over which putting accurately was impossible... More

Stayed at Cranwell recently in the Carriage House which was comfortable. This time we were upgraded to a Junior Suite in Founders hall. This was newly renovated, very spacious and delightful. Staff on the whole are excellent except at Sloan's tavern where they tended to be brusque and unhelpful. Sloan's serves bar food that is fairly priced and generic. The... More

We had made reservations for a king deluxe room at this resort and spa several months ago. When we arrived we were taken to a room designed for handicapped, which was not what we had reserved. The room had NO BATH TUB, just a wheel in shower. We declined the room. Next we were shown a room that looked like... More

Spent one night at the resort while on a business trip. While the grounds were immaculate and restaurant was excellent, the lodging was not up to par, no pun intended. The room AC/heating temperature control and bed side lamp were not working, electrical outlets were difficult to access, lighting was poor, ironing board was broken, and the toiletries were made... Men and women amenities like sauna, whirlpool and relaxation room are completely separate. We both enjoyed the steam saunas and massages. Decor was restful, very clean and staff friendly.

This former aristocratic mansion in fine English Tudor style will amaze you with its architecture and old world charm. Upon entering the property, you will see its regal stone edifice on top of the hill, it´s imposing facade illuminated in the cool night of the Berkshires. If only there was good signage, you could navigate the maze of resort roads... More

Despite warmer than usual temperatures, the Cranwell exuded charm and spirit at Christmas. The grounds are beautiful and the scenery spectacular. Walking from building to building just added to the history and glory of the architecture and plantings. Rooms were cozy and well appointed and all amenities were close at hand. Common rooms may have fireplaces and nooks for reading.... More
