Great venue for music. We visited in July and saw James Taylor - great concert. Have also gone to hear the Boston Symphony Orchestra while sitting on the lawn. Just recently, we drove out to Tanglewood as I have fond memories of summers spent listening to wonderful music here. The area, although not yet open for the 2017 concert season,... More

One of my favorite places anywhere. It is a wonderful experience to come on a Fri or Sat evening, with a blanket and a picnic, have dinner, walk around and notice everybody else's picnics, and then lie back under the stars and listen to the BSO. You should bring either light beach chairs or something to lie on. If you... More

Sundays on the lawn with a picnic before the BSO performance; July 4 with James Taylor has become a tradition; Great acoustics in the shed and the smaller Ozawa Hall. Music is gorgeous; walk around because the view of the Stockbridge Bowl is also beautiful.

Tanglewood is special and is one of our favorite places. We have seen many different performances by a wide range of artists. Going by on a clear, sunny day in February I was reminded of the magic that comes alive each summer. When I returned to Canyon Ranch, I pulled up the Tanglewood website and purchased tickets for two performances... More

We saw James Taylor in early July. Fantastic show!! Everyone brings blankets, food and drink to this open air concert stage. The facilities are in a building not far to walk, which was nice. We had a large family going, but got there early and had plenty of space to spread out. We would love to attend another concert, the... More

Highly recommend parking your car as soon as allowed about 2 hours before concert. We were given this tip by hotel staff. Thank goodness we did. We got a decent parking spot near front ( all parking is on grass). The weather was beautiful so we walked the 3/4 mile or so to the downtown area and saw the line... More

Music at Tanglewood is a Berkshires tradition. Invited by friends, we loaded up our picnic chairs and blanket, gathered food from a number of local purveyors, and made our way to the Tanglewood grounds. The social aspect with friends was terrific. Even if we'd gone alone, the atmosphere was great for laying on a blanket and reading a book. The... More

If you come to the Berkshires in the summer time, than you must make a traditional visit to Tanglewood. Buy a lawn ticket and relax on your blanket while listening to music. Everyone that attends brings their own picnic foods and wines. Just DO NO forget bug spray. The mosquitos are nasty out at night.

We go every year to hear the Boston Pops orchestra. We sit on the lawn with our lawn chairs and have a wonderful lunch that we manage to pack. The music is delightful and relaxing. The cost is very reasonable without buying tickets in advance.

Even though performance season had ended and none of the gift shops of food pavilions are open, we were able to stroll the spacious and well kept grounds on a beautiful summer day with no admission charge. Not sure, but looks like you might still be able to picnic but would need to plan on taking all your trash back... More
