We had an absolutely great time at Tanglewood. This was our first time going, and we will definitely be back! We had seats in the shed, which for the concert that we attended, we preferred. But if someone were to play and we didn't want...More

Great venue, fabulous show, first time visit! We had seats in the Shed, in case of bad weather. It was unbelievably easy to get in and out of the parking lot, almost no waiting! I only wish the stage were higher or there was slight...More

There is not a bad seat in the house...or lawn! We have enjoyed many Boston Pops concerts over the years, from Yo Yo Ma to Seth MacFarlane. A picnic on the lawn is the way to go for us. Speakers allow you to hear the...More

Great venue for music. We visited in July and saw James Taylor - great concert. Have also gone to hear the Boston Symphony Orchestra while sitting on the lawn. Just recently, we drove out to Tanglewood as I have fond memories of summers spent listening...More

One of my favorite places anywhere. It is a wonderful experience to come on a Fri or Sat evening, with a blanket and a picnic, have dinner, walk around and notice everybody else's picnics, and then lie back under the stars and listen to the...More

Sundays on the lawn with a picnic before the BSO performance; July 4 with James Taylor has become a tradition; Great acoustics in the shed and the smaller Ozawa Hall. Music is gorgeous; walk around because the view of the Stockbridge Bowl is also beautiful.

Tanglewood is special and is one of our favorite places. We have seen many different performances by a wide range of artists. Going by on a clear, sunny day in February I was reminded of the magic that comes alive each summer. When I returned...More

We saw James Taylor in early July. Fantastic show!! Everyone brings blankets, food and drink to this open air concert stage. The facilities are in a building not far to walk, which was nice. We had a large family going, but got there early and...More

We are going to Tanglewood for the first time (yay! Four Voices!) and we have seats in "The Shed" - I now think I read one cannot eat/drink there and we were planning a picnic. Can we picnic on the lawn before the performance? Is it tacky to bring a bottle of wine? Thanks for helping a Tanglewood newbie!

HI, Almost everyone has wine and a picnic dinner. Not sure about the shed
We will be visiting the area later in June and thought we would come to a concert. We've never been to Tanglewood. When I ordered lawn tickets online I was asked if we would like to order some boxed tote dinners (to eat during the show). The prices were very high for a sandwich/salad, cookie, chips and bottled water. Is there a cafeteria, snack bar or take-out restaurant on the grounds that we could buy our own (hot) food & take over with us for the show? We will be staying in a hotel & not really convenient to make our own picnic basket.

I do think there is a place where you can purchase food on the premises, but most people pack a picnic and bring it with them. You may purchase picnic basket meals from many restaurants in the area as well. I think all would... More
