We had to go here on the 1st October just by the name! Easy trails and good views. Cold do with more places to park the car but overall nice walking area.

We have never camped at the camp area, but it looks nice. We have driven to the top of Oct. Mt. and hiked. There are many nice hiking trails. We have also picnicked at the picnic area near the reservoir which was a very nice spot with picnic tables.

Best inexpensive lodging in the Tanglewood area, but also relaxing, beautiful, and fun. Other yurts are very near, so you'll hear/see other groups and their cars. If you want privacy, you can close screen flaps, but then you are hot inside. I brought box fan, and white noise helped. Other yurt-ers had brought one, too, so I didn't feel like... More

We've stayed at OCT. Mt. 4times in as many years and plan to return many more. Each of our stays has been in a yurt. For us there is no other way to enjoy being out doors. All the camping fun while having a bed to sleep in and electrical service. The bunk beds aren't made for a life time... More

Loved October Mountain State Forest for morning hikes. The variety of trails is excellent, long and short, steep and gradual. It also looked as if there were all kinds of off road and horse trails as well. It's a well maintained facility with something outdoorsy for everybody.

This is my second trip to October Mountain State Forest's campground in the past few years. The last time I camped at Site #46 (which is relatively private). This time, I got the LAST open spot - #44 (that's what I get for delaying proper planning for one of the busiest Tanglewood events of the season). That said, yes, this... More

We did not end up staying for the night that we booked, as the campground is right next to a power plant and this was not mentioned at all. The noise was the opposite of peaceful, and rattled our nerves, so we left and were not able to get a refund.

An inventory of pleasures on October Mountain: screech owls calling in the dark, the smell of wood smoke, children careening joyfully down the hill on training wheels, the song of the hermit thrush at dawn, the whispering of wind in the leaves, the proximity of water to the tent. The snuffle of a skunk outside the tent added a thrill... More
