Traveling through
May 2017
My wife and i and another couple we travel with were in the Kent Island area for the weekend and driving around to see what we could find. We passed Big Bats during our ride down Rt 18 and when it was lunch time, we saw Big Bats listed on the GPS. Remembering that we passed it before we headed back to Big Bats. As expected, the place is filled with baseball memorabilia and lots of bats. Bats in display cases, bats as ornamentation, bats as door handles and more bats in addition to a lot of photos of baseball players and baseball advertisements. We were seated quickly in a booth near the back. We all had a chuckle about the smallness of the booth for four people but we none of us are real large so we managed comfortably. Among the group we ordered a crab dip, Coney Island 1/4 pound hot dog, wings in atomic sauce, and Tequila Burger, The server asked if I wanted the burger medium (I had also heard the same question to someone else) so i assume that Medium is as rare as you can get it. I ordered it medium and it was juicy with just a hint of pink. The 1/2 pound burger was piled high with toppings and tasted good. However, I really didn't taste anything really special about it over a regular cheeseburger with the same toppings. Perhaps it is because Tequila doesnt have a very rich flavor. My wife's crab dip was delicious as seconded by myself when she offered me a taste. Our friend stated that his Atomic wings were good with plenty of flavor and heat like he likes them. Our friend that ordered the Coney Dog thought the dog itself was delicious but felt there was way too much bread so she ate the remainder of the Coney dog with a fork and discarded the bread. I had almost ordered the Coney Dog myself but changed my mind when I saw it was served on a banquette because I thought it may be too much bread. She ordered sweet potato fried with her Coney Dog and they were very good with a crispy exterior and a soft sweet inside. Our service was quick and attentive and we never had an empty glass. Overall we had a good lunch with a delicious meal. We would likely stop back in Big Bats for lunch the next time we are in the area.

Food was horrible, is suppose to be made fresh daily seen frozen meat taken out of the back of a truck, which then was taken inside to be used for the days menu. Serves sucked, owner allows other guest to get drink and get rude with other guest. will never go there again

Clean, baseball type decor pub/restaurant with outdoor seating. Great for families! Big menu with always friendly staff to serve you. Never been disappointed with our more than 8+ visits. Average prices. Short wait for food once ordered. Everything is american type to choose from, but with a bit of an interesting twist toward gourmet. This place is a hidden secret to the general public. Casual.

Every dish here is served with a smile, whether inside or outside at the pavilion. Great hamburgers and fries.

Big Bats is a great place to take family and friends for good food, great draft beers and surprising chef's specials. Happy hour is great, and is from 3 to 7 most days (very generous), but is from 3 to close on Wednesdays. The kids like the enormous Buffalo Chicken sandwich but we like the boneless bites. Importantly, this is the only place on Kent Island with Harp on draft!

Food is appropriate for this type bar/fast food; restaurant is a little dark but doesn't keep customers away.

What if you could live your Childhood fantasy?. Steve Garland has done just that, He combined his love of Baseball with good Food. He opened Big Bats Cafe and stocked it with Great Food, Great Service and a AWESOME Collection of Baseball Memorabilia. Throw in 24 TV's and a 160 seat outdoor patio/ballpark and you know he loves Sports. After you open the menu you will be hooked. After you finish your meal you will be back,
because its always Opening Day at Big Bats
