This is an enjoyable visit for all ages and you learn a lot about the C&O canal! There is a fee if you drive a car to the visitor center (you can bike there along the tow path and there's no charge) and you purchase...More

Takes you to colonial times and helps one understand how it was on the Canal and how the Canal locks worked. Great for children or history lovers.

Period attired guides give goo esplanation as if you were on a river boat in the late 19 century C& O canal used to be the primary way to ship stu to the west on mule drawn river boats.

Great Falls National Park. But make sure it's in the state of Maryland. Maybe that is because there are others with that same name. In our 50-State Quest this one makes #47. Yes the 37 years of the Quest is near it's end in August...More

I took visiting family members to the canal boat during the summer. The ranger was immensely knowledgeable, so his presentation truly transported us back in time. It's well worth your time to visit the gate house and explore all the historic information inside.
