We've tried all 3 Billy Goat Trails and each in its own way offers delight, challenges and priceless views of the Potomac River in all seasons. It would be difficult to select a favorite, but each is do-able though the "A" trail seems more of...More

I finally hiked Billy Goat Trail A after many visits to Great Falls Park. Trail A is the most athletic of the hikes available and there are no dogs allowed (for good reason, unless your dog knows how to rock climb). To access section A...More

Before you attempt this hike, please verify that it has reopened (also the trail to the Great Falls view has been temporarily closed due to flooding damage).

The Billy Goat Trail is definitely one of the best hikes in the DC area; its a challenging hike, so come prepared with water, athletic gear, and be ready to climb/scramble. Parking can be challenging on crowded days.

So close to DC, it's a great feeling to get out on a hiking trail along the mighty Potomac River and feel like you are worlds away. The trail is rocky, with some climbing and descending on uneven terrain. Even on a cold day, locals...More

Great hiking trail that is located along the Potomac River on the Maryland side. It is a great work out but be careful because portions of it can be dangerous and/or hazardous. Enjoy!

So my review title has two meanings. The section A portion of the trail is super fun and a great workout however it is extremely rocky with rugged and slick patches. I recommend coming from the north as the traverse is easier to climb up...More

Very nice trail, class 1, can be done as a loop. Parking fills quickly. Bathrooms available. Trail markers easy to find and reliable. Great for kids of any age. There are stroller accessible portions nearby - but Billy Goat trail itself is not stroller friendly....More

I'm trying to decide which part of the trail to do. I have a son who is 4. We do a lot of hiking in west at a variety of national parks but nothing with jumping from large rocks. He can go probably 4 miles. Input and thoughts on this trail?

Thanks everyone. We did it last weekend. The rock wall had my husband and I helping my son but other than that. We were good and we had a blast.

I think you need a car to get to both Dallas international airport and Ronald Reagan Airport . Both are around 25 mins drive
