I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of cars, carriages, buggies and other modes of transportation. They also have antique trucks, motorcycles and even an early gas powered surfboard. A pleasant way to spend a couple of hours when you are in Oakland, MD.

We went to this museum during the Autumn Glory festival. This museum is free which is great! It is small but you can see it all in an hour or so. There are classic cars, boats, a train display and it covers transportation in the Garrett County region throughout the years. Some displays feature the various outdoor activities within the... Cars, bicycles, boats, trucks, fire trucks - they are all here! Beautiful examples of these machines are spiffed up and ready for public viewing. This really is something worth checking out - top floor too!!

Located on two floors, one devoted to land and one, at least partially, to water, it features beautiful cars, including a beautifully restored Packard and a cute Ford coupe, carriages of various ages and upstairs some very nicely preserved boats, all testimonials of a lively Oakland that was... Definitely an engaging way to spend a morning in Oakland.

When not using feet to get from point A to point B, humans have used a variety of transportation modes from horses, bicycles, buggies, cars, etc. These are well represented in the Garrett County Museum of Transportation. Located in a new building with funding from the Naylor family, this two story museum contains fine examples of transportation means that were... More

Very enjoyable museum that focuses on transportation that is related to Garrett County. All the artifacts were originally used in the area. Downstairs are cars (a few brass era), wagons, firetruck etc. Upstairs is snowmobiles and boats (stair and elevator access). Signage is good for each of the artifacts. The museum is free, though donations are welcomed. Easy parking across... More
