My husband and best friend stopped here on our way home from a Wedding in York, Pennsylvania. We decided last minute that we wanted to do something on our way home and this was actually on our way back, We stopped in with no advanced reservations and we purchased access to the Nature Walk and the topiary gardens for $13.00... Ladew Topiary Gardens offers well-tended gardens, beautiful in every season from spring to early winter (the gardens close for the winter after the holidays). Each garden is designed a as an interesting "room," each with a water feature and themed with particular plant material or a color, and enclosed by shrubbery or topiary. Visitors wander at their leisure through the... More

Wow, what a great day trip!! If you love walking/hiking and young or old you will love this place. I can't wait to return in the spring, however even this time of year was really enjoyable. The garden walk is fantastic, followed up by the nature walk (take snacks for the whole walk!) We walked about 3 miles total. We... More

We went in mid October and the gardens were really nice for early fall. I bet in the Spring and early Summer that those gardens are amazing! Lots of water features and lots of hidden areas to explore. We did the nature trail and that was a nice walk through the forest, about a third of the trail is boardwalk.... More

Tour of Harvey Ladew's home and Topiary Gardens in Monkton Maryland. His home is on 250 acres of Maryland Horse country. This should be a must see.

Founded by the late Harvey Ladew (of Baltimore leather/belt fame), this 250 acre treasurer holds seven fantastic and very different gardens (i.e., Irish) that provide a self-guided tour second in this area only to the much larger duPont properties at Longwood Gardens in Delaware. You can arrange a tour of the Ladew Mansion (most highly recommended), spend as much time... More

We really enjoyed our visit to Ladew Topiary Gardens. It is a unique garden experience with interesting gardens, a fascinating historic Manor House, a Butterfly House (open seasonally) along with a Nature Walk. There is a very good gift shop and small cafe, in a former stable with charming outdoor seating. The garden rooms have different themes - the including... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Ladew Topiary Gardens. The house tour is interesting and takes about an hour. There is also a butterfly house and the day we visited they were tagging Monarch butterflies to track their long migration. There are so many beautiful gardens that it's impossible to name a favorite. The gardens have themes and many... More

Not often do you travel all the way up here but this beautiful estate and garden created by Mr. Harvey Ladew himself is not to be missed!!! It's one of the few historic estate that is still in its original creation, untouched the way Mr Ladew left it! Give yourself a 2-3 hours for a quick tour of the whole... More

We hadn't visited this attraction for many years but obtained tickets for one of the evening concerts. The ticket allowed access to the gardens and we went early to look around. Although this is a poor cousin to places like Longwood Gardens, Ladew has it's charms. Some of the topiary is very well kept with whimsical themes that give a... More
