If you desire a lovely and tranquil country scene, visit Ladew throughout the year. It is gorgeous with great walking trails. Check out their website for special events. Always fun, I bring my out of town guest for a visit.

Don't miss the house tour. The brochure made it easy to do a self guided walk of the gardens. I can't say the visitor center staff weren't very helpful or friendly. They were closing up the gift shop at 4:45 which I thought was not...More

Worth the price of admission. We went here for the sculpted shrubbery but there are many different gardens with various themes; Rose garden, water lilies, a metal sculpture garden, Venus' temple, a tea garden, and more. There is a small quaint cafe, a butterfly enclosure,...More

Beautiful gardens - not crowded. The house was charming although the upstairs was closed for renovations. Extremely knowledgeable docents, want to go back in the spring.

While driving on the Horses and Hounds scenic byway (in itself a great tour) we stopped at Ladew Gardens. We got tickets for the house and gardens. (They offer a military discount making this a great deal.) Our tour was given by Sophia. She gave...More

It was hard to feel relaxed hearing the constant stream of traffic while viewing the gardens. I was surprised at the lack of labeling of the plants and flowers, could be much improved. The house tour was too long (50 mins), could be done with...More

The house itself is lovely, with original furnishings and period pieces from around the world. The gardens are extensive (I just wish more of the plants were labeled); the topiaries are whimsical. But the HIGHLIGHT is the Butterfly house!! There are butterflies, caterpillars and moths...More

We enjoyed the house tour and the gardens. We ate at the cafe too which is not too expensive for a quick meal. I would totally recommend visiting Ladew especially if you are local Harford county resident.

Beautiful gardens and house on this estate. Also has a restaurant on site. You can easily spend a day here and walking the grounds is good exercise. The gardens and house are beautifully maintained.

Yes, you could easily spend 2 to 3 hours plus plus. It all depends on you. It's so lovely at Ladew. They have there plant sale this Saturday. During the summer, they offer a concert series by the pool. Plan to spend some... More

When we were there Lawdew was closed to the public, except for the program about syrup. We stayed about 10 minutes away, there was a delicious restaurant called Tarq's Grille where we ate. I'd go there again!
