Nice place to take a hike. Great view from the top of the Washington Monument. Visit during the summer, when the bathrooms are open. Nice playground for children.

This is a family favorite. Just a pleasant little hike that small children can handle, easy to navigate with a jogging stroller or off road wagon. We take this hike with the cub scouts as well, as the boys love to climb to the top of the monument. Great views on clear days.

Easy and fun hike. Great views from the top. Take your camera and binoculars. Lots of bird watching from the monument. Can also connect to the AT trail to hike farther.

Visited the park with my brother. We walked up the trail to see the original Washington Monument. It was basically a lookout built during the Civil War. Kind of looks like a giant milk jug made out of rocks. What a view though! This is a good place to visit for a few hours with the family. Restrooms on site.

Washington Monument State Park has a little something for everyone. At the bottom there are areas to hang out and picnic. A small interpretative center and a ranger station. You can take a short hike to the monument and even say you were hiked part of the Appalachian Trail in the process. The rocks below the monument can be slippery... More

My parents used to bring me here as a child when we lived in nearby Hagerstown. I have visited twice in the last 3 years. It's a nice short hike from the parking lot. The monument has an interesting history. The view is spectacular from the top.

We hiked up to this beautiful overlook and spent a bit of time talking to a volunteer bird counter, tracking migration of birds of prey. Great visit; we'll be back!

The short hike to the top is absolutely worth the views. Fall colors when the sun is shining directly. Monument is ~ our opinion ~ dull pile of stones. Notable (and makes sense) as a signal station during Am Civil War. Little visitor center has sophisticated map for battle of South Mountain. Note*** Many Maryland state parks are trash free,... Friend and visited as we had heard from bird watching folks that many birds pass by when migrating south. I was pleasantly surprised and what a nice park this is. Trail is very easy to walk and tower was a steep, but manageable. Def worth it to see the beautiful views.

It was a great view though and one can drive right to the top. The tower was rather impressive for the time it was built. (I always pictured the windmill from Animal Farm to look like this structure.)
